What the author refers to as a "data center" is
- "[a]bout the size of a single-car garage"
- in the hands of the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory
- not owned by a big tech company
- NOT used for LLM training.
That's not a data center. It's a server room.

Ich habe mich Informiert und gedacht, ich bastel mir was mit OpenMediaVault und SnapRaid zusammen. Ich bin zufällig darüber gestolpert.
Die nächste Idee, ist die 5 TB Platte in ein Externes Gehäuse zu packen. Die über den Router verfügbar zu machen im Heimnetzwerk und da alles raufspielen mit entsprechenden Programmen.
Jetzt ist die frage, die sowas schon machen, was ist eure Erfahrung damit. Wie handhabt ihr das? Es gibt so viele Wege.
Wichtig ist mir so Wartungsarm wie möglich.

I'm starting a page about "how to make a website". It'll guide you through making everything from scratch with nothing but a text editor and viewing your files directly in a browser locally.
The only piece I'm currently missing is beginner suggestions for *hosting* the website. Way back in the day, we used "shared web hosting" and uploaded files via FTP. What's the modern equivalent? (I've been running VPSs for a long time, so I've lost track of other options.) Boosts welcome.

Sooo … I'm in the market for a portable #LoRa device, and interested in your suggestions:
must:
• handheld
• comes with an antenna that's at least "pretty good", maybe even "great"
• reasonably waterproof ("can be used in rain" kind of thing)
• can connect an external antenna with no or only minimal soldering required
• < 100 €
nice to have:
• GNSS ("GPS")
• display
• replaceable battery
optional:
• GPIO, Qwiic or some other way to connect external stuff
On Threads I read social media posts in Malay, on xhs and weibo in Chinese (well some of it anyway) and on Mastodon and Substack, English.
Different vibes and perspectives. A good way to exercise your language muscles too.
@liztai Interesting! My Mastodon feed is a strong mix of English, French, and German, because I have followed accounts in all three. (Just my own feed, not the local or federated feeds - I am on too big a server (mastodon.social) for those feeds to be useful.
