this weekend i messed around with codex some more to try something ... it found a lot to do and to look through and it kept taking an hour max until the 5h ratelimit thing was reached. this is a very annoying limitation. i guess i should see how well i can run some local qwen model or something got kinda curious now but it could be a tight fit on my hardware. i cant justify to throw money at this problem

I'm ready, Jon.
@lowqualityfacts I need a bit more foreplay. Or drinks.

@SimonCHulse Yes, I'm familiar with them and their undeniably righteous cause. Again, it's about the powerful & ignoble writing the history books, slandering their names. @futuresprog @squee
@lightweight @futuresprog @squee History is written by the victors, although I’d argue the Luddites didn’t lose. They kinda became part of the Labour movement.

@remmy pkgconf also is more than just pkgconf. it is the foundation of C/C++ SBOMs now, too.
Check out my new TLS certificate: yes, Let's Encrypt signed this and yes, it works.

shout out to the pixelfed devs for allowing a actual photography platform to exist
shout out to the peertube devs for helping us not be stuck on youtube until the end of time
ETA: Shout out to the server operators who make the stuff be done
Absolutely correct on all points.
I just find that if an action has one particular beneficiary, they likely are involved in some way with that action.
@Amgine In the meantime, we need things like laws on the books to require manufacturers of internet connected products to provide long term firmware support and simple instructions for buyers so that they can update their IOT devices.
And, if a vendor goes bankrupt, a condition of bankruptcy protection should require the release of source code so that the community can maintain the security of devices....and the vendor be required to let purchasers know where to find community updates.
Which brings us to the current situation. Republicans & political media are going to be colluding, working overtime to frame any attempt to punish the Trump administration as "retribution." This serves the cynical frame that every administration just uses gov't to punish its political enemies.
That is a deadly frame for long-term progressive goals. It's not true & we badly need voters to *understand* that it's not true. We need them to believe that it is possible to neutrally & dispassionately apply rule of law. It's not just tit for tat. The actual lawbreaking, the truth, *matters*.

Recently I watched the other two films in the Dollars Trilogy (I've seen The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly a metric gorillion times) and I gotta say that this spiritual trilogy¹ is kinda meh. I don't get the hype.
Good, Bad, and Ugly is genuinely great and I love it. I understand why people gravitate towards it, but A Fistful of Dollars is merely okay. The only thing clever it does is have a western cowboy™️ hero win by being smart and using his noggin. I barely remember the rest because it's so generic.
For A Few Dollars More? Wtf is this movie?! There's literal looney toons sound effects. I'm not joking. Holy tonal whiplash, batman! At one point I thought there were going to bust off the set and into a Busby Berkley musical set. Except it wasn't supposed to be a Mel Brooks joke. I have no clue why anyone loves this movie
¹I still see people trying to justify the trilogy as a straightforward canon.....but the director literally said multiple times that they're not actually sequels in a literal sense but more in terms of motif. I really wish people would stop doing mental gymnastics over something that was never meant to be...but the heat death of the universe is more likely than that
@jadedtwin Yojimbo & Sanjuro, the films they're ripped off from are much better, tho I deeply love Morricone's soundtracks.
Also Seven Samurai which was copied as Magnificent Seven, but Yul Brynner kinda saves that.
And Hidden Fortress & Star Wars. I love Star Wars, but there are multiple shot-for-shot ripoffs/"homages" in it. Come on. Leia's better than the mostly-silent princess.
Generally my "don't watch remakes" rule works but here there's some art in the ripoffs.
OUTSTANDING. If you have 6 minutes and 43 seconds (the animation itself is about half that) I can't recommend this enough. A masterpiece of stop motion made from ceramics.

@lightweight @futuresprog @squee The Luddites were actually a net positive for humanity in their time, they weren’t anti all technology, or stupid. They were the ones fighting the capitalists wanting to replace them with machines to save money!
We need a #NeoLuddite movement against the AI billionaires in the modern world!
