If anyone in #perth is free on Wednesday (11th) and is interested in #esperanto, I'll be running a stall at Have a Go Day at Burswood Park. Come by and say hello.

Cambridge MiniDebconf starts this morning! Have a look to the schedule https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEvents/gb/2026/MiniDebConfCambridge#Talks_-_Saturday_and_Sunday. #debian #MiniDebConf #MiniDebConfCambridge2026
Thank you to the DebConf video team for the live stream, it lets those of us far from Cambridge follow along too. Enjoy day two, everyone!
I was at a brewery with @KevBot and they had this beer called "Bruceki" and I kept reading it as some variation of bukkake but then I realized it was supposed to be pronounced like "Brewski" so I was like "Oh! Kev! BREWSKI!" and then he went to order and forgot all of my advice and proceeded to order a pint of the "Brew-kkake."
Hey, if anyone is looking for a taxidermied mongoose having a final battle with a taxidermied cobra, and has just been waiting for one to be dumped in the hard rubbish of a southeast Melbourne household, HMU. This will go quickly!
A ptoblem.

This seem to stem from a misunderstanding. Lemmy and Mastodon have different goals. Users of each generally don’t want the other’s content generally showing up en masse.
If you want to see something from Mastodon, you can usually get it on Lemmy, and vice versa. I don’t often see Mastodon posts either, but that’s because I only follow Lemmy communities, so I only see them when someone on Mastodon tags a Lemmy community in their post. If you want to see more Mastodon content, see if you can follow some users or hashtags from Lemmy.
But that might not be supported; I haven’t tried. If you prefer Mastodon, I’m pretty sure that you can follow Lemmy communities from there.
At the Agentic Internet Workshop yesterday, talking about personal AI, I remembered a 2007 talk and have resurrected it at https://jonudell.info/hosted-lifebits/.
"I believe I will live long enough to see that we will get there, and we will actually have coherent personal digital archives that include our educational records, our financial records, and our medical records."
I still believe that but we better hurry up!
Thanks, @jimgroom, for being a more durable record than EDUCAUSE :-)
@paparatti Oof... lots more wind damage than I thought
@ai6yr the rain didn't help either. I hope the rest of the forecast holds so I can put the inside sandbags back in the box.
Review of medical records found that metformin prescribed within a week of documented SARS-CoV-2 infection was associated with a 53% lower risk of LC over 6 months.

Working on a serialization format system with an S-expression-based IDL, an S-expression-based textual value definition language, and a compact binary wire format...
Planning on making it as nice to use from Rust as Postcard is with a derive macro and everything, but with an encoding which makes it possible to evolve schemas backwards-compatibly like cap'n proto and protobuf
Tonight's Low Quality Ad is for this Highland Cow Stuffed Animal. All cows are Highland cows, most of them are just shaved so that their white and black spotted skin is visible.

Are you sure it's a cow? I don't want to end up with a bull in my house that wants to fuck everything in sight, just like a bull does!
We're interested in opening up our instance a little bit to Fediverse power-users who want to help us dogfood #Bonfire. The environment seems to be mostly stable, but we're currently running on latest alpha / beta branches, so Here Be Dragons.
If you're interested in jumping over to a new instance and using it exclusively for a while, feel free to DM me for an invite!
@cR0w lololol
Well, I didn't find any surprises... I don't think. 🤔
@cR0w Except apache2 installed (by default?!?!) on this machine 😬

No energy to work on projects, so logging into all my Linux machines and running

and
ufw status
(and figuring why the heck I opened ports 😬 )

Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
