People are taking this democracy thing further than the Dem Party is comfortable with.
Reflecting on election results... How I feel is that I'm disturbed that hate still sells!
Maybe with special votes or coalition negotiations things will move in a lefty direction, & maybe we'll at least have a better finance minister than Nicola Willis!
Then again I'm seeing politics elsewhere move in a positive direction, so perhaps that'll bring out votes in the next election.
All that said... I try not to rely on electoral politics to make the change I want, this keeps me calm!
I read that this is the 2nd lowest turnout in NZ history. Voter suppression was part of that, but it does support my theory that with everything going wrong right now in international politics... Voters, particularly young voters, are demotivated.
On that line... Chris Hipkins must go! He's now lost Labour 2 elections! Get someone exciting.
Should I continue with merephone, what hardware would I need/want?
* SAMD21 microcontroller
* cellular modem e.g. u-blox SARA-R410M-02B
* SD card & slot
* battery
* USB port (type B or C)
* solar panel (avoid a need to charge)
* buttons
* nav-switch
* 4-gray epaper display
* front-facing LEDs (in place of backlight, for nighttime use)
* ArduCam
* camera-flash LED
* NFC
* near-ear speakers
* louder speakers
* microphone
* headphone jack
* buzzer
And I hard someone wanted radio?
1/2
As I'm building the hardware I'm finding that I'm a total novice making novice mistakes. But I know enough to push through!
Regarding that sound system... I know that such cellular modems can stream phone calls on a I2S digital audio bus. Which I'd want to wire up near-directly to a selection of speakers/mics! I'd probably need a suitable DAC & ADC?
But how to choose good speakers for this project? Can I wire volume controls directly up to an amp? Can I get cheap radio?
2/2 Fin!

I'm seeing people who should know better claim that opposition to #HakeemJeffries and #ChuckSchumer is fanciful or just a social media phenomenon. WRONG. The Dem base wants leaders with guts and integrity, and groups with big constituencies like Sunrise Movement and @indivisibleteam are on the case.
I still often think about the fact that Aaron Swartz was only 14 years old when he helped develop RSS..

Tim Snyder on billionaires leaving the US if taxed: "If they're not paying taxes anyway, it doesn't matter, right? Let them go plague some other country... if they're not going to pay taxes here, let them not pay taxes somewhere else, because it is actually no loss."

This seem to stem from a misunderstanding. Lemmy and Mastodon have different goals. Users of each generally don’t want the other’s content generally showing up en masse.
If you want to see something from Mastodon, you can usually get it on Lemmy, and vice versa. I don’t often see Mastodon posts either, but that’s because I only follow Lemmy communities, so I only see them when someone on Mastodon tags a Lemmy community in their post. If you want to see more Mastodon content, see if you can follow some users or hashtags from Lemmy.
But that might not be supported; I haven’t tried. If you prefer Mastodon, I’m pretty sure that you can follow Lemmy communities from there.
Sincerely...Thank you for the clarification.
This is exactly my whole point in posting anything about the announcement _at all_.
And to those who have friends/family/clients/acquaintances who couldn't patch a toaster if their life depended on it, they will _not_ be able to do a fresh GrapheneOS install on their own.
Please.. Stop telling people how easy it is for tech-challenged users to comprehend/do, just because you and I can, sure doesn't guarantee that anyone can.
@lumiworx Motorola published an announcement for the Signature 27. It isn't an announcement about the specific details of GrapheneOS on the Signature 27. It covers it being the first official device with GrapheneOS support and says there will be more details published about it.
It was never said that the only option would be people installing it themselves. It isn't said in any of our posts about it or the announcement from Motorola. It says details will be provided about GrapheneOS support.
The Times is an institution, owned by billionaires, millionaires and other vested interests in maintaining the inequality, graft and favor system that keeps New York and beyond outside the American Dream for most Americans and immigrants. And yes, an institution is a tool.

lemmy and mastodon are more than just activitypub frontends. mastodon is for microblogging where you follow users while lemmy and other threadiverse software is a discussion forum and news aggregator where you follow communities. it’s cool you can share some posts across these platforms but there is a reason you don’t see the same posts everywhere and that’s a good thing.
> A ballistic test performed in 1961 suggested that the pistol found on Sacco was used to commit the murders,[7] though later commentators have questioned its reliability and conclusiveness, given questions about the chain of custody and possible manipulation of evidence.[8]
they found one guy who disputed it, and the author convincingly refutes it immediately in the same article. yet another wikipedia citation that when I read it suggests the opposite of what wikipedia implies. nearly every time.
@sewblue Oooh, yikes on the cats!
@ai6yr My mom ended up with one of the cats.
We joked that she would lays have a little bit of her sister as long as she had the cat.
The choice to use a real band is especially weird, given the cartoon designs don't look much like the real musicians, and the plots are all unrelated standard cartoon hijinks. It's really jarring when the live-action promo videos play, because the difference between Ounuki-san and Yoshimura-san's cartoon personas and real life selves is so drastic.
@QuestForTori I also got kind of confused by Puffy AmiYumi versus Panty and Stocking for a while there. I didn't have cable during the period those two shows aired and was confused about whether they were one show or two shows.
@c0dec0dec0de @sundew To encode dependencies. How else would you define the dependencies?
For certain task types, the dependencies can be automatically derived from input and output files. But for some other types of task this is not possible, like if the task invokes a script or executable, or if the task operates on a directory rather than a file.
@c0dec0dec0de @sundew Now, what I don't quite understand is why ALL THREE of "BeforeTargets", "AfterTargets", and "DependsOnTargets" exist. I am struggling to understand why they couldn't collapse.
Sam Register even said outright that WB thought the market wasn't there yet like it was for anime. He also implied that it was mostly happenstance that he learned about the band when seeing them interviewed on TV while he was visiting Japan, and he thought a girl-rock show would bolster CN's female viewership (Likely while riding the coattails of the Japanophillia boom, but he didn't say that outright).
