@jaz this road leads up from the village towards the hills and is my favourite place to walk.

Folks, don't give up on the issue of the Democratic Congressional leadership. We did not come this far to hand power back over to these billionaire corporate backed politicians. This is the seminal issue right now. Make some noise.

@sri @huntingdon @chris The most evil man in America is now driving the most powerful nation in Earth.
I was entertained today by watching a hawk try unsuccessfully to hunt a squirrel. With all the bad crap happening around the world, it gave some relief to see the little guy escape from the clutches of a predator. I shared some roasted unsalted nuts and dried bananas with him.
@fesshole 😍👍🏾
Janeese Lewis George is part of a new class of socialist mayors. Unlike her peers, she’ll be running a city under federal rule. https://theintercept.com/2026/11/07/janeese-lewis-george-dsa-dc-mayor
@dansup looks way better than all the vibe coded uptime monitors that have appeared on the scene recently. Looking forward to the code release 👀
@josh Yeah, I wouldn't trust those lol. When it comes to status pages or even devops tools, you don't need gradients and "modern" fonts, rather it should focus on the needs of who is running and consuming it.
That's why I believe vibe coded fedi platforms won't grow like the OGs, polish only goes so far, knowledge about databases, data structures and caching is fundamental to being able to serve thousands of concurrent users. I don't think many of them realize that.

60 years of cleaning bathrooms and I'm soooo done!
@blitter i would expect something between "more web UIs" and "nothing" (mismatching Host headers)
the servers have their domain(s) hardcoded into the config, it's not an autodiscovery thing
@elsa @blitter you can have alternative names for the same instance, for example: @ginkgo_biloba and @ginkgo_biloba are the same account.
A server could support more than one such alias.
A lot of dems are saying that prosecuting the Trump administration is about justice not retribution and I just want to make clear that for me it is about retribution and getting even and that's completely fine, they are fascists who don't deserve mercy.
@seldo
I don't want to get bogged down trying to impeach him specifically. It's gonna be slow walked and ultimately fail like the other two times. And it'll draw all the oxygen from real reform efforts.
Now criminal investigations of everyone around him. Go to town.

@chris Ah ok. Body shop instead of car doctor !
BTW, in New Zealand, "body shops" are called "panel beaters".
@jfmezei 😆 accurate

@surdfish Yes, Bob is my uncle, but the entire point is:
Bob's your uncle.

LA Times: LAX might not have a people mover, but it does have Brian who will write you a poem
"...She was about to board a flight to Nashville, where she would discuss AI regulation at a film festival for her job, when she stumbled upon Brian Sonia-Wallace, the poet laureate of Los Angeles, sitting at a 1940s-model Underwood typewriter writing custom poems for passing travelers. .... Sonia-Wallace describes the clacking of the typewriter as his siren song. He’s far from alone in his practice, as these types of analog, on-demand typewriter poetry sessions have become widespread in the last decade, championed by busking collectives and literary groups like the Poetry Society of New York and Ars Poetica. The inherent theater of it lures a crowd...."
