IT’S WEEKEND BEIGE, BITCHES!!
Having a hot chocolate about it.
I saw FediverseWrapped toots. I thought: will I do Wrapstodon? I thought: but what if it reveals I toot too much? I checked my Mastodon profile. It says: 42,677 posts. Yikes, please tell me that includes boosts. Then I saw ’Joined November 6th’. As I realised: that’s 4 years ago today!, my phone pinged a reminder that I signed up for a Visible Mending course. I think these things may be connected. Here’s some flowers to say thank you to my lovely Fedi-neighbours for this lovely community space.

On a privacy scale of 1 to 100: 2.
Mods can see it, all someone has to do is spin up a private instance and they can see it too, plus there’s Lemvotes. It’s kinda neat like I can see that I upvoted 8,052 posts and downvoted 17 from that account, or from this account I upvoted 15,327 comments and downvoted 86.
Some instances though - like PieFed.social - have defederated from Lemvotes, so anyone’s vote offered to a community on that instance will not be counted by Lemvotes. But ofc that’s merely one of many tools for me to find the data, whereas if someone spins up their own instance then they - or a community mod - can still see it by other means.
The reason I went into all this detail is bc if is relevant to your purpose that not everyone on the Threadiverse shares the same view about vote privacy. Some instances will defederate from yours in an attempt to retain control over the visibility of votes from their own. So perhaps you can devise some mechanism to allow admins the choice to opt-out, without having to defederate from your entire instance wholesale?
@116971578141103944 The Thatcher period, which ended with John Major lasted for 18 years. It was not a blip. Also the changes made to the top rate of income tax during the Thatcher government were not reversed by any subsequent government. This set in motion the widening inequality gap. So what Thatcher did in the 1980s remains responsible for where we are now. It set the frame for everything else that followed. Apart from the latest PM installed recently, each PM after Thatcher felt obligated to make some speech declaring how much they admired Thatcher.
The Thatcher phenomena is very much a cult, so this is an example of the outsized influence of a single individual within history. The current Conservative leader models herself on Thatcher, as did a few previous leaders.
The recent break with the orthodoxy of declaring admiration for Thatcher is perhaps an encouraging sign that the decades long curse of Thatcherism is wearing off.
@liaizon I was experimenting with a different look for link cards. Did some JS magic to auto-rearrange things in the card, but it got a bit too fancy — also I haven't decide how the final look should be, so the code becomes really messy.
I've removed the fancy stuff, now settled on a much simpler look. Weirdly too much logic inside a simple link card 🤣
@cheeaun what I didn't understand is how the bug resulted in this glitch but when I took a screen recording or screenshot it wasn't visible. I guess the only way that is possible is that the native screenrenderer is recording on a different layer then the visible screen but I guess image buffer logic is over my head

My issue with votes is being able to profile users on a pretty deep level. It may not matter all that much now but once bad actors like corporations, scammers, stalkers, etc. start getting involved then there’s a lot negatives that it would bring with it.
The sun was so low it was shining right through under the train cars.
Great idea.
@thefulcrum @info but we need coders to make it a great app... Ideas?
Oh well. I guess I will no longer use Zed
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/44827
(I've been using a version built from this PR all this time, and Zed is unusable without it)
@inex consider Gram, a zed fork that aims to not use genAI code and also gets rid of other annoying features
This time Dr. McCoy lets the ship get taken over by some aliens with belts that make everyone play freeze tag yet also convinces Starfleet to let them go back to Risa.

Reminder: Codeberg will be upgrading to Forgejo 17 today, which will cause some downtime.
We lost direction as a society when we stopped making these.
@dansup Frankly, I would have expected you to go to an animal shelter instead of feeding the farming industry.
@dm29 He wasn't a dog farmer lol, he bred labrador retrievers specifically for his family.
I wanted another one, because they are the perfect breed for me. I have adopted shelter dogs before, but they did not have any labrador retrievers.
