🚨 URGENT PUBLIC NOTICE – BOIL/BOTTLE WATER ADVISORY
TOWN OF MANCOS
November 6, 2026
The Town of Mancos is notifying all customers served by the Town’s municipal water system that the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has required a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory, effective
November 6, 2026.
WHY HAS THIS ADVISORY BEEN ISSUED?
Due to ongoing impacts from the recent flooding, the Town was required to allow inadequately treated water into the distribution system to maintain system pressure. Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. This advisory has been issued to protect public health.
IMPORTANT WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
Residents and businesses served by the Town’s municipal water system should take the following precautions:
Bring tap water to a full, rolling boil for 3 minutes and allow it to cool before use.
Use boiled or commercially bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, preparing infant formula, washing fruits and vegetables, and making ice.
Do not consume unboiled tap water or ice from refrigerators or ice makers connected to the municipal water system.
Provide boiled or bottled drinking water for pets.
Take extra precautions to prevent infants and young children from swallowing water while bathing.
WATER CONSERVATION REMINDER
Residents are asked to continue conserving water and limiting nonessential water use while the Town addresses the ongoing impacts of the flooding.
HOW LONG WILL THE ADVISORY REMAIN IN EFFECT?
The advisory will remain in effect until CDPHE determines that the water system is operating properly and providing safe drinking water.
The Town is working with CDPHE to address the situation, including corrective actions, flushing the distribution system, and water quality testing.
The advisory will not be lifted until CDPHE provides written authorization.
The Town of Mancos will continue providing updates through its official Facebook page and website as additional information becomes available.
We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to restore safe drinking water.
