@darth_hideout LOL - the jokes make themselves
I really wish that people hated private equity so loudly and openly as they hate AI
It probably is ruining the world more than AI is, just more slowly and more hidden
I'm posting this from Windows 11.

there are people that are concerned about "haitian national sovereignty" when another country, that was adversely affected by haitian gang violence leaking out of haiti, did something about the gangs overnight while apparently the haitian government could not? this seems to imply that haiti's gangs were the sovereign
Stereolab's "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" (March 1996) turned 30 this year, but this record is still super funky and danceable. The socialist-inspired lyrics and calls to action seem even more relevant than ever, too.

So a service company can monitor the performance and possibly improve performance (e.g. drop freezer temps when hydro price goes down overnight, to a temp determined by previous tracking data for insulative performance) would be my guess.
@Amgine If the firmware has never been patched because people don't know to do so, or else the firmware went "end of life" years ago, or simply the passwords were the manufacturers default passwords, then a hack like this would wipe out any possible savings on energy consumption.
Some of these freezers/refrigerators were not even all that old. People typically replace this kind of thing when it stops refrigerating/freezing food...which could be 10,15, 20 or more years.

"The Thicket" (September 1998) is David Grubbs's first solo album after the breakup of Gastr del Sol. This is still my favorite of Grubbs's solo albums, and I really like how it brings a pop sensibility to the experimental sounds he was known for.
