Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube track and profile their users so that they can target advertising towards them.
Their business models fuel online harms by pushing more and more extreme content to users. Despite this, these platforms are one of the primary ways that government departments share public information.
Tell your MP to support the EDM calling on the UK Government to ensure that all public sector social media content is published on open, decentralised and federated platforms!

I have some Discord servers that are muted for anything but mentions. They do not fire notifications. The only way to see if I have a new mention is to see a red dot on Discord's tray icon
I would really like a native support for tray icons, since current system is kinda limited (notification dot only shows that there is *something* new, not what that new comes from). I like the way Android does this

Like, there could be a dot at the System indicators, and when you click it the Background apps thing is already open, with a dot on the application that has a notification for you.
One could maybe also customize which app has which color, so that one can know at a glance which app wants your attention.
