This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.

Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).

What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.

Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.

Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.

Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.

Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.

If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.

I hope we all have fun. Cheers!

Okay the AI thing was fun

Let's do the next tech grift now

"Quantum" is next on the list right?

Hey look I invented a quantum and you need it and don't let your geopolitical adversary get quantum and don't get left behind!

@ai6yr @cmdrmoto Gilliam was quotes saying soemthing like “I wanted a happy ending where the protagonist goes insane”

@AnarchoNinaWrites This. 💯

I dunno, sounds to me like Trump is telling Miller "you handle it then."

Still reading "guy is out of gas."

Of course that means Stephen Miller is the real president now, so expect fireworks.

@elsemusic that sounds like progress, even if it’s not smooth sailing at the moment. Sending lots of focus to you for song building 😁💛🙌

Screw you Garrett Langley, screeeeew yoooouuuu 🖕

Most lame duck presidents demure in their two years of ineffectuality

Not #Trump the orange rapist of course

"Trump says #StephenMiller to replace #SusieWiles as #WhiteHouse #ChiefOfStaff"

Stephen Miller is the architect of the brutalization of #immigrants by #ICE

However any further brutalizations are going to get eviscerated by the #Democrat legislature in January

But

Until January, you are going to see some truly evil shit from the White House while it still can

@mattblaze Oooooo I don't live in NYC (or, America) but this is right up my geek street. I only wish there was one for London.

#QuestionOfTheDay what is something that seems like it was influenced/connected by something else but is actually just wild coincidence/prediction/accident?

An example: Slam Dunk seems very heavily like it's based on the 90s Bulls, they wear red and white uniforms that look just like the Bulls, several characters seem like analogue to the Bulls, the main character is a rebounder/defensive player who can't shoot that has dyed red hair and later shaves it down and dives into the crowd to grab a ball like Dennis Rodman, and the other big star on the team is a slasher/scorer like Michael Jordan

here's the problem: Rodman wasn't on the Bulls when Sakuragi was created, nor did he start dying his hair until AFTER Slam Dunk

so it is just coincidence >_>

Depeche Mode is what Placebo sounds like slowed down.

@lydiaconwell I can't be bought that easily, not even for the quo

On Bandcamp Fridays I am contractually obliged to mention that my daughter and I have released two albums, available through Bandcamp and Mirlo on vinyl, CD and as digital downloads.

Today I am also going to mention a five track EP I released two years ago. You'll find Flagrant Ardour by May Joy at https://mayjoy.bandcamp.com/album/flagrant-ardour

There are only 150,000 #Jains in the US.

Two have just been elected to the Congress.

Dr. Amish Shah, an #Arizona Jain adherent, and Pia Dandiya, from #Florida, and the daughter of practicing Jains, were both elected as Democrats to the House of Representatives.

a message to #democrats:

🗣KEEP PUERTO RICO OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MOUTHS

you are acting like parasitic colonialist garbage, talking about #statehood without even spending a second to talk about the Biden-Obama brainchild of La Junta, a dictatorship by #WallStreet #finbros that has been ruling La Isla since Obama’s second term.

🗣 DON'T FUCKING TALK ABOUT #STATEHOOD IF YOU WON’T TALK ABOUT YOUR CORPODEMS #FINBROS DICTATORSHIP IN #PUERTORICO

🇵🇷 😡🖕🏽

@memoriesin8bit I often find optimisation at odds with readability (and documenting optimisation specifically helpful because a) I can quickly check how I did something in the past, and b) writing a description helps it stick in my mind better)

If you're finding unwanted complexity, then reflecting on code architecture is good, and at that point considering others' strategies in order to compare them to your own might yield insights (but I figure you need that perspective to get those insights)

I get take down requests because this shithead thinks he deserves privacy while taking it away from everyone else

Meanwhile, Google is doxxing him without any problem

Funny how that works uh
