Okay, you're right, this is a feature I wouldn't use at all.

I use the 'Share' button that appears just after any scan ; this allows me to instantly save the PDF in my remote kdrive with the right name already set, and that's all.

The interest thing here is that when I used kdrive app from GPlay, the scan feature was inside the app;
Then I turned to the app from F-droid, (GrapheneOS) that doesn't scan anymore.
Luckily Fairscan is really fine! thanks @pynicolas !

Enjoy! Feel free to ask on !piefed_help@piefed.social if you have any questions

If your “anti-abuse” security requires your software to be closed source, then your software is not secure. Well built software can be open source, and still secure.

You imply that your code could not prevent abuse if it was known, so, no offense, but that code must be pretty bad!

I like the fediverse because it distributes power. I, as a user, have the power to choose my instance, choose my moderation, choose the structure that my social interactions are built upon (threads based, microblogs, etc) and if I dont like something, I have the power to change it. Thats why open source is such a perfect fit to that model. Closed source federation then, sounds to me like you didnt get it.

@TheBreadmonkey No need to shout. I have very sensitive oversized ears.

@Em0nM4stodon One thing that hugely annoys me is that recording technology is also shutting people out from society.
It can actually put people in harm's way or, for whatever reason, do significant harm to their mental health. More and recording devices on the street also means more and more people not leaving their homes and being shut off from the world even more.

Most people see these devices as annoying and uncomfortable but ultimately won't alter their ways. Yet, there's another group for whom this is crippling and - as always - they're just not part of the discussion despite paying the biggest price for this 'advancement'.

There was at least another instance which wasn’t in your list which was blocked, but, again, I don’t remember what its weird nane was😅

Since the problem was me not reading their onboarding message, I’m gonna stay on PieFed.social except if there is a weird controversy I don’t know about yet.

I also think I’ll progressively stop using Lemmy.

@gregeganSF I went through this period once where I was buying tiny little pocket notebooks from wilko, and when i was bored in the shop (most of the time) I worked at I'd do little doodles and write silly thoughts on them

one of them was a list of "Good biology words" like xylem, thylakoid, neutrophil, ribosome etc

"zoledronic" definitely belongs :D

Good morning! The sun came up right on time but has already been replaced by clouds. I'm hoping our expected rain will hold off until I've returned from the grocery store. Once that's I don't mind what it does outdoors. Today is a day for housecleaning.

I have a bag of books to take to the library to donate, but that's in the opposite direction. I want to get them out of the house before the holidays, but I've got time. Maybe Saturday.

#Today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.

My big project takes a hit this morning. Most of the time will be siphoned off for regular wood and water tasks that take a lot of my Thursday every week.

Some days are like that. Regularly scheduled tasks that others depend on to remain regular. For a lot of people that means "going to work."

For me, just another Thursday.

Also me, I didn't account for this when I was figuring it all out in advance.

I hope you have your day figured out #today

EARY MORELIKE

I have, for the first time, warnings about suspicious traffic on my home internet. I am not an IT expert but know enough to update my firmware and my router's login details are not "admin" "admin" but I would love any advise from people smarter than me about how to check that I am not part of a botnet or some other tomfoolery. It's a fibre 100mbp up and down with a TP-Link Archer AX23. I am hoping the the geek-army of Mastodon can give me some tips.

@Sobex Only on my disk, but I quickly uploaded here: https://www.peppercarrot.com/extras/temp/2026-11-05_AAAAAAA_joke_hi.jpg

@mcc I'll look into it.

@heidilifeldman
Oh, oh, I know this one!

It's Mippissippi, so is it becoz they is black?

This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.

Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).

What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.

Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.

Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.

Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.

Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.

If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.

I hope we all have fun. Cheers!

An activitypub is a pub you go to for activities. It’s fairly self-explanatory.
