Somebody Got Classic Mac OS Booting on a Nintendo Wii...
A developer who goes by Rairii got Mac OS 7.6 booting on a real Nintendo Wii, and Mac OS 9.2.2 made it to the desktop too. In a guest post on Virtually Fun, the developer calls it most likely the first time since the CHRP clone era that anybody outside Apple brought classic Mac OS up on a new system.
It's quick, which I didn't expect.
The post says 7.6 booted within 40 seconds off an SD card, in what was supposed to be the slowest access mode for one. Mac OS 9.2.2 kept crashing until Open Transport came out of the Extensions folder, and Rairii's guess is that Open Transport can't handle having no serial or network device at all. The mouse cursor moves through the GameCube controller ports (no USB yet), using a driver ported over from earlier Windows NT work.
