Imagine fucking up so bad as a political party that we have seats flipping for the first time in nearly 100 years. This is an absolutely historic election. America has rejected Trumpism and Christian nationalism and hate-driven politics and billionaire oligarchy. Faith in humanity restored tonight.

@mcc I think the circular design is probably easier to learn. You can't run off the scale like with a linear design, since it loops back around, and there's only one index to deal with. Since the length of the scale is πd, a circular rule can be much more compact and still have better resolution. The pivot keeps the face off the slide rule off the tabletop, which helps prevent scratches and wear. The cursor is usually designed so it can't be knocked out of alignment, a common issue with linear rules.

On the down side, the inner most scales tend to be more compressed, as you move around the disk the numbers turn upside down, and the front and rear inner disks are not connected which makes duplex-flips a bit tricky. They are also impossible to disassemble for cleaning, and the manufacturing tolerances are tighter.

ps. Not watching or stressing about politics, because, I voted, exerted efforts beforehand elsewhere, and using any energy tonight on stress or elation or whatever is wasted, as none of that will affect any outcome tonight.

(energy to be spent in the future, depending on what happens or does not happen as a result of elections, of course. Cross that bridge when we get there. Winning elections is one thing; effectiveness after an election is another, and there's a heck of a lot of stuff that needs to be corrected, if even possible... and I don't trust the People In Charge will give up any power no matter what happens)
