If you’re in the United States, the 2026 Midterm Elections are today. Go out and vote!
@neil lol very nice but you forgot the padding 😆
@nixfreak Oh, I've got plenty of padding. That's why it is XL :)
Rep. Jayapal: "I’ve been notified of another death in ICE custody — the 62nd under this administration.
Today, WE have the power to stop this cruelty and hold ICE accountable."

How about a "never" check-mark, thanks.
Fuck off Adobe. I only use you explicitly when doing exactly one function, because you can correctly scale a printout from one paper size to another.
For everything else, I use an open source and free reader that is 10 times faster and only 1MB in size.
I love when I'm learning about some historical battle, and they talk about one of the Generals as a Genius Military Strategist, and then you find out that the plan is always "Hear me out, what if we surprise them, and then get all around them."
Ricki, have you considered a career as a Genius Military Strategist?
Hey #oklahoma there have been various reports of the machines you put the ballot in having issues.
That machine isn't the one that will count your vote. It's just a locked box to hold the ballots and they are taken to the county where they will be counted.
If you have any issues please ask a poll worker to help.
We vote on paper ballots here, filling in little boxes then we put them in the ballot box.
I just wanted to reassure everyone that your vote will be counted, but the thing at the polling place isn't the thing that will count it so it's ok if the one at your precinct is wonky.
I know there are techs already on the way to fix them.
the majority of binaries i use were compiled in my system, with some in gentoo's donated hw servers =w=
everything i heard about "from scratch" llms points to "they're nowhere even close to the ones people use", and still take massive gpu compute most people don't have; people are not going to be used locally trained locally ran llms for the stuff we're discussing anytime soon, because they're just not going to generate "acceptable" looking output
If you’re in the US and able to, please don’t forget to vote today. I’m sure this is likely to be the Nth thing you see but seriously. Turn out is key.
‘Nuff said.
@shoq Not just the nation, most of the world I suspect. I feel like I'm waiting to hear if my friend's terminal or not.
@scy generally a great OSINT channel
still a little annoyed about his primitive technology video, though
@skaverat Why?
Someone just announced that they're unfollowing me because of my bad election takes. I will have to somehow find a way to live with this random stranger's disapproval. Hopefully I will find a way to go on.
@mattblaze I am still following you, Matt.
Tomorrow morning I’ll sign in for my 16 hr shift as a NYS election inspector.
I’ll boot up the machines.
I’ll provide voters w the correct ballot for their precinct.
I’ll make sure every ballot is cast and counted.
I’ll do this for every registered Democrat, Republican, Third Party voter, and Independent.
Because voting is an inviolable right of citizenship.
Because #democracy depends on free and fair elections.
Because we are the caretakers of this Republic.
@xankarn Well done, sir, and thank you!
"but if they ban genAI then something that's less bad and easier to fix than what's currently already happening might happen!!!"
In 2008 I wrote a networking utility program for Linux. It's still maintained and used. Take the first letter of every sentence in its (rather long) man page and it spells "Never gonna give you up" etc etc. Nobody has ever mentioned it.
@fesshole This is the wholesome content the internet was made for. That and porn and the secrets of the military-industrial complex’s university divisions.
I don't know how to shop for clothes anymore.
I spent ~15 years thrifting all of my clothes because I didn't have the money for a modern wardrobe and I thought modern clothes were boring.
Thrifting is dead now though for a few reasons. 1. Everything is fast fashion now, so the thrift stores are flooded with the worst, cheapest stuff. 2. People don't donate their interesting old clothes anymore because they can resell them on depop and whatever. 3. Professional resellers descend on the thrift stores every morning and buy anything that is good.
At the same time, retail has gone so online that if you go into a clothing store, there's not much selection to pick from (and the clothes are cheap and shapeless anyway).
So, the only other option besides sewing your own clothes is to buy online, but I have no idea if something is going to fit me well or be flattering from photos of a model wearing it on a website. I can't stand to do what other people do, and just order and return stuff over and over until I find things I like.
It feels dismal out there! I need some new clothes!

I've been informed that "No Nut November" is actually about making sure you vote for people who aren't nuts.
So remember, vote for people who aren't nuts!
Faut faire tourner !
@ai6yr
Nurse on the scene said she had no heart beat when she collapsed, so she must've been pushing way past her limits to destroy enough muscle to flood her system with problematic levels of electrolytes.
It doesn't sound like a lack of training is directly involved in whether rhabdomyolysis happens or not, but I would expect that lack of marathoning experience meant she was insufficiently aware of which symptoms were normal or not.
I'd hope someone would run an unofficial training/test marathon before doing the real thing, precisely so they'd feel like they could stop middway when experiencing extreme pain, etc, and get those symptoms checked out.
@map oops sorry. I thought they said you did it kast year and I just assumed.
@pharmacistjudge I think by now we all have worked on it and i wanted to share the praise. ❤️
