@drq я думаю главная проблема фильма в том, что он должен был рассказать историю тем, кто вообще не был в курсе. Либо был в курсе, но это было давно и всё вот это. Но по факту получилось тупо. "Обычных" зрителей фильм по сути обошёл стороной и ничего им не дал, а фанатам гта он не дал ничего, потому что был не для них. Но именно фанаты гта его среди себя и расфорсили. Особенно недавно на фоне новых микроскандалов. Так что получилось, повторюсь, тупо.
Прикольного можно было нарыть много чего. Можно было бы комедийно обыграть, почему в журналах с анонсами ГТА СА просто дофига ложной информации. Или сделать сценку как они режут версию для ПК чтобы она работала. Много чего. Но нет, нам дали неоднозначность там где она не нужна, драма по давно известным событиям и сцены, которые никуда не ведут. Как в этом фильме видят комедию мне вообще не понятно.

these numbers should not be counted but also it would be nice to preserve the ability to see they are presenting false numbers to begin with.

@liaizon that is an interesting idea, I like the idea of a public audit log where the community replaces MAU or other stats (with moderator approval). I will add this to my todo list.
We do have detection that automatically blocks servers that report a delta change greater than a threshold, but this was under that.
Maybe I'm really cheap by I object to spending 58p on each Tesco branded condom. It really adds up over a weekend. I wish Aldi did own branded condoms.

I'm reading about a Word "clone", apparently made by the same people who recreated "clones" of Adobe's software suite.
I don't know how legal any of this is, and I'm not going to get into that. But I can't help smiling at the reactions.
When they started pushing AI, they told us we would lose our jobs, whether we liked it or not. That AI would replace us, whether we liked it or not.
Now that someone has decided to apply the very same principle to their products, suddenly they don't like it anymore.
"You can create new games, but you can't recreate existing ones."
Hurts, doesn't it?
And that's the point. The problem isn't the technology itself, but the way certain sharks use it at other people's expense. When they're the ones on the receiving end, and only then, ethics suddenly becomes a concern again.
@stefano No the problem is the technology as well, when the technology is so poorly built that it requires massive data centers, causing social and ecological harms. These people using it to recreate imitations of bad products might be fighting the monopolies, but they are also contributing to the social and ecological problems by increasing the usage numbers. It's like an indiscriminate protest bombing that doesn't care about the collateral damage.

One thing I thought of and explained as contrast to all the vibey stuff going on is the demoscene. Pushing the limits of old computers as art. There's no reason to do it except craft and joy.
But of course, this weekend I saw an article where someone tried to do just that. Even on HN people were saying, why? You're missing the point of the demoscene. There's nothing to "gain" from the demoscene other than community and craft.
If you're using an LLM to try to understand and explain to you how a technique works, I suppose that's one thing. But if you're using it to build a demo, why? Exploring the limits is only there for community joy. There's no other reason to do it.
But every community, the joy and artistry is torn out of it. Intellectual strip mining.
@cwebber it seems some sceners just want to keep the dream alive and for them it's just to keep releasing new demos, no matter how they're made.
Some just don't want to lose the race, if others use LLMs then they lose the edge… using LLMs better than the vibecoders may be a point for them, they still win.
Latest oldschool prods released, cpc or c64, seems to have proven a point, the bed has been shat into and you'll see more coders trying to keep up and use LLMs for tooling… at first?
Something else will come out of it I assume.
@kaneel The irony then is that I was excited to get into the demoscene, and I have never been in it before. @vv and I were talking about going to #Revision 2027!
But is it really worth going if it's going to be slop infested? I'm just not interested in traveling all the way out there for that. I'm not interested in spending the time watching it either, and previously watching Revision streams was one of the highlights of the year.
