In many ways - several features are gone, several have been added. Some of the main ones, I guess, are federated forums (compatible with Lemmy/Piefed), federated blogs, an RSS feed, following hashtags, and customizable timelines. We're also trying to make it easier for new users, with familiar terminology etc.

I had a look yesterday, very cool, especially the Fediverse catalog: https://catalog.catodon.rocks/ !

Jokes on you, we don't even have MPTCP in FreeBSD 😭

@jalefkowit
You have to enjoy the moment.

back to lightfe for a while lol

well, dogfooding.

@ai6yr woo another good song.

@lynnandtonic Here, it’s not raining! Which is kind of unusual. We often get rain on Halloween.

Here's another job for anyone strolling around with a Captain Privacy costume tonight. Walk down the street with a trick or treat bag full of plastic trash bags. Put one over the top of any delivery robots hogging the sidewalk. Continue walking to the bar and buy yourself a round for your good deed. Repeat until you're out of trash bags, there are no more robots or you're too drunk to walk.

(Forgot to mention the version of Love Potion No.9 by Herb Alpert!)

@busheling1 surprisingly painless. Gonna try to remember to make notes for a "what I learned" blog later

Thinking about the people's permacomputer project, as always.

Perhaps it is time to do a broader exploration of the different microcontrollers on offer today, instead of continuing down the AVR path without doing any further checks.

It is very important to the project that the hardware that it ends up developing for a BASIC computer is as inexpensive as possible.

Displays and keyboards are about as expensive as the MCU. This is a problem. Some sort of conspectus would be good at this stage.

@carnage4life it's only anecdata, but companies I'm familiar with are actively moving away from Anthropic and OpenAI to cheaper models for coding, including some of the Chinese open-weight models. They've worked out that for 95%+ of what enterprise developers do they are more than good enough. And with the way that model prices are going, the frontier labs will need to 10x usage just to stand still revenue-wise in the year ahead.

@futurebird At least they don’t duel over math disputes anymore, as with Tycho Brahe and the fellow who shortened his nose for him.

Every year we get the chance to live one hour of our life again. What will you do differently this 1 AM to 2 AM? I'm going to turn my life around

This is cool. I hope it gets support from instances.

But also, these projects just slap a bulletain board costume on Lemmy and Piefed. Which is great – I was reallly disappointed that LemmyBB seemed to die – but there are forum-first options out there, too. Discourse has an AP plugin, and I think that’s actively maintained. More interesting to me, though, is nodeBB.

Seriously, people should check out nodeBB. It’s super cool.
