kinda amazing to see lots of homebrew games for retro consoles, like the atari vcs / 2600.
i learned how to program assembly in 2017 by going on the atariage forums.
but i see people, completely unrelated and unorganised into any kind of forum of community that i recognise, coming up with amazing games and software all the time.
not sure what to take away from all of this, but i hope somehow that all #retrocomputing people come into contact in some way and share their spark of joy for this.
Collabora says a ministry merger paused the test, while the ministry says it was interrupted when the election was called.
@itsfoss
does this mean Denmark goes on testing FOSS to leave Microsoft later ?
Flash Flood Emergency in MS (!)... between 6 and 10 inhces of rain.

@jalefkowit that is fucking HILARIOUS 😂
Family Halloween movie was Beetlejuice and that of course led to giving the kids a heart to heart about the Memphis Design movement
Our humble attempt to let folks hear one another.
Real Music, from real folks. Producers, Composers, Beat Makers, Remixers, DJ's, Singer/Songwriters NO ai!
We need about 40 tunes to fill a 2 hour show.
We'd really like rock with Fedi Artist in particularly. So send over what you'd like @brothersoul to include on the show. And it's sorted.

Americans - my vote has been effectively stolen this year. If mine, how many others? Please vote. Polls mean nothing, only the votes that happen and are actually counted matter.

The “we’re not allowed to discuss” line? I suppose that assumes a level self-censur that is debatable.
Or do you mean the part about SUV ownership having demonstrable effects of human behavior? That is true.

How do reviews work in CoMaps?
Want to know how the integration for reviewing places works in CoMaps? Our contributor Maciek who made it happen wrote a blog post about it!
After all these years nothing has quite so reached Peak South Australia as Premier Mike Rann being beaten up by the husband of a woman Rann was having an affair with.
Happening at the National Wine Centre - peak.
The weapon being a rolled-up Winestate magazine - peak.
The public arresting the guy because the cops were nowhere to be found - peak.
The timid news initially describing the man's accusation as a "comment to the Premier" as they didn't want to defame Rann in case he wasn't having an affair - peak.
Rann's popularity increasing because SA Premiers should have a bit on the side - peak.
Rann walking around with a cut face for months afterwards - peak.
SA Police removing heavy magazines from the sites of the Premier's further public functions - peak.
@glent 👀 LOL he really was beat up by a woman's husband over an affair? LOL (noting that the news article didn't mention THAT). Quite the interesting politics you have there.
@fluffy mostly also ask what good they are every 6 months and resume ignoring them.
@Taris sounds about right

Call for Mbin contributors
Call for Mbin contributors
Crossposted from https://fedia.io/m/updates@kbin.melroy.org/t/4475005
As you all might know it, Mbin is a rather small project with a small team. In fact the current size of the team is 1.5 developers (0.5 for the ones which only have partially time). While our active devs do what they can in their free time, this leads to slow feature and security updates, sometimes slow support and increasing stress for the remaining devs.
That's why I ask everyone who likes this project, has time of their own to donate and knows how to program with PHP (or is willing to learn it) to consider helping this project move forward.
You can start with simpler features and submit them as PRs or even just help review existing PRs if full commitment to maintaining the codebase is currently too much. We are aware that parts of our codebase contains more spagett than some Italian restaurants, but we will help every newcomer to find their way through the sources.
Every bit of support helps, as it also shows that we have a passionate userbase which does not want Mbin to wither away.Well ... as I'm not very good at writing motivational texts, just comment anything which comes to mind for this issue 😁 If you have ideas how to improve the chances that this post reach the right people, I would also love to hear it.
At the same time I want to bring up another topic, as transparency is important for any public project.
Some of our devs use AI assistants for generating code for PRs and also to assist with PR reviews. Simply because without it, they would not have time to continue contributing to Mbin (which would bring our devs down to 1, making it impossible to merge new PRs). On thing here is important to know: I will not call it slop nor vibe-coding, as they are a competent developer capable of understanding and managing the outputs of the agents. Still, I am very aware of the issues of AI and the general opinion on it in the Fediverse. That is why I would like to know your constructive opinions on this matter.
Also, I guarantee you that every PR is reviewed by at least one human pair of eyes.
Huge oofta for the AI usage in Mbin, I guess...I need to find a different fediverse place to hangout in as, that is a huge red flag to me. Using the tools of corpos which are actively being used in efforts to disenfranchise the skilled while attempting to enrich the already filthy rich.
So what do people do with DMARC reports, anyway?
@fluffy mostly also ask what good they are every 6 months and resume ignoring them.
@tranquil_cassowary @GrapheneOS It's unclear to me that the media would have to tell that story. If that is our standard a hell of a lot of media reporting would get incomprehensibly lengthy and complicated. By my reading their article is accurate. Sure. There's subtleties here not called out, but that doesn't feel unreasonable.
@Schouten_B @tranquil_cassowary The claims from the police are largely unsubstantiated claims, deliberately misleading distortions pretending they can do things they can't to scare people and outright falsehoods. Legitimate journalists do in fact have an obligation to do proper research and provide relevant parties an opportunity to respond. It isn't ethical to write a story smearing an open source project by reporting unverified claims about it without providing any opportunity to respond.
