I used to just… not vote. Didn’t like the people running but they were all mostly the same in my eyes. “Do I want this rich old white dude or that rich old white dude”

I didn’t even bother.

Then a rich old white dude came around that was actually measurably worse than the other rich old white dudes. So I had to start voting against him.

It sucks. I want to go back to not caring.

1/2

I am actually quite aware of this.

The CIA pitted the Muslims against the Christians to destabilize the country until the violent civil war.

@marlinz008 🙇

@futurebird OK "I can't think of anything" is horrifying, but "I can't cut it down to 3" would be less so

@neil The credit is entirely on Our Feared And Adored Leader @patrick.

I think the point I’m trying to make is that I don’t care what religion somebody is as long as they do their jobs.

As an atheist I believe completely that people should be able to believe and worship whoever they want within reason.

Fascism is an international project. They prop each other up, protect and enable each other's corruption, use their resources to normalize authoritarian rule. It's like a Bizarro world version of solidarity.

Every loss they face costs them all in legitimacy, removes another quid-pro-quo partner from the stage, and proves people can take power back.

To be fair, esentially all of the comments here are based on personal experiences. It would not be a much of a discussion, if everyone was just throwing scientific facts around… The scientific results do support warming, though, denying that is stupid.

I know that very well. I was responding to the original comment which seemed to suggest that anti Americanism is whipped up by propaganda.

Propaganda fueled that war, or did you forget Fox News existed? Created specifically to fuel wars and boost GOP talking points, by a billionaire who hated that Nixon was forced to resign.

So there’s this thing called Lemmy… and it’s like reddit, only without the corporate restrictions. So it can’t become a walled garden… but it’s still gonna be essentially like reddit.

It is, but that’s what defederation is for: If there are instances that are being sketchy, they are supposed to get cut off from the rest of the Fediverse.

Seems abusable though

If one instance doesn’t trust another, they shouldn’t federate in the first place.

The US killed 4 million people during the “war on terror” almost all of them civilians. It is funding a genocide right now in Gaza and South Lebanon that has killed almost 100,000 people that we know of. My entire life has been endless wars waged by the US.

It might be a shock to you but you don’t need propaganda to think that the US is a terrorist rogue state.

Is there a reason why the publishing instance is not downloading the preview image, and then submits it with the post to the other instances? This way they would not have to fetch it themselves.
