watched the very second episode of the twilight zone today. what's it about?
Street scene: Summer. The present. Man on a sidewalk named Lou Bookman, age sixtyish. Occupation: pitchman. Lou Bookman, a fixture of the summer, a rather minor component to a hot July, a nondescript, commonplace little man whose life is a treadmill built out of sidewalks. And in just a moment, Lou Bookman will have to concern himself with survival – because as of three o'clock this hot July afternoon, he'll be stalked by Mr. Death.
don't want to spoil it completely, but it's clever, funny, and in the end, quite heartwarming. plots along a bit slow for current day tastes, but what can ya do. it's good!

Introducing the Fediverse: a New Era of Social Media
@nicod 👀
@AugierLe42e C'est la carte de la page wikipedia.
@bouncepaw @calutron @cblgh I've written text in Latin for each district of Dinaisth, I could break it down into 7 slides per location, and one page for the flavor text in Latin.

Spec for a CRDT library I could incorporate into my "Alonzo" project:
* Dictionaries, sets, strings, & numbers.
* Allow multiple fields to reference the same dictionary.
* Expose last-write-wins conflicts for me to handle.
* Allow my code to specify which file it should persist all data in.
* Allow attaching commit messages.
I don't require collaborative text editing, but it could (eventually) be nice.
A pure-Lua implementation will aid porting across platforms, including WebASM.
Interested?

Oh shit, I think that’s why emails from my domain have been going to spam lately. I guess I fucked up my reputation with gmail. Currently registrations require approval, but they still send an email verification link. Maybe I’ll just close them. Thank you so much for pointing this out!

Wow, that’s pretty malicious, and good to know about
RE: https://floss.social/@alcinnz/117480851431357123
Spec for a JiT backend to Alonzo:
* Algebraic data types a.k.a. tagged unions, with pattern-matching
* Pure functions which can be called.
* Arbitrary-precision positive ints.
* Fully immutable data.
* Exceptions, to report memory-allocation failures.
The point is to deliver something much faster than what I'll be writing in pure Lua. So performance isn't a reason not to use Alonzo!
Possibilities for auto-optimizing Alonzo code should theoretically be exceptionally straightforward & flexible.
Most home dashboards fail by showing everything they can. The hard part is deciding what to leave out.
Ours runs on a Mac mini and a Raspberry Pi driving an old Samsung Frame TV. Calendar, weather, Powerwall, Octopus tariff, bin days. Notices only appear when they matter, and energy is one sentence instead of a wall of kilowatts.
Built with my Little Robot Friend ahead of our kitchen-diner renovation.

@dajb Very impressive. Although I do not need something quite like that, my self hosted services have a user friendly dashboard that I should make better use of - thank you for the inspiration.
then while doing the tech staffing she was trying to convince me that I needed to stay here but also that I needed to either sign a lease or buy a home in Albuquerque when I was actively looking for jobs elsewhere
then I found the position with ubisoft and I got it right away and I was super excited, and while ubisoft turned out to be *awful* at least it got me away from her
oh and another thing is my mom insisted that I delay my transition because "what would your grandparents think" and she didn't want to "cause problems" and also had this thing where "we don't keep secrets from each other" meaning she didn't want only part of the family to know (never mind that she keeps secrets all the fucking time and also there's such a thing as a "staged rollout" and also her thought was that if I didn't transition I'd stop being trans)
I regret never telling my grandpa
Holidayed in Greece many years ago. Accidentally kissed a German man between the shoulder blades thinking he was my topless wife.
@fesshole one of the most painful European fesses
The job was super interesting (I forget what it was exactly but it was doing graphics research for scientific visualization stuff, I think for geological surveys?)
but nope now I was stuck in Albuquerque, doing tech staffing bullshit
@fluffy that's so manipulative and cruel 😞 i'm sorry that happened. i hope you keep those folks at a distance when you can.

more or less confirms that the PHP exploit on Wednesday was overblown, and contrary to claims it would be exploited in 15 mins, we haven’t even seen one confirmed exploit yet. even proof of concept exploits are incredibly hard to write and deploy.
