KDE Plasma 6.8: No More X11, Union theming, and a TON of changes!
The #4opens are simple: open code, open data, open standards and open process. They let you check claims instead of trusting marketing. Can you inspect the software, access your data, move between platforms and see how decisions are made?
Think of it as a trust filter. But openness alone isn't enough: check whether people use the project and whether it's still maintained. #FOSS #OpenWeb #OMN
@hamishcampbell maybe check for technical debt and ai slop these days too😅

Blocked a disabled Tech Bro that unironically said with his full chest in another thread not by me that LLMs are amazing, and that humans deserve to lose their jobs, and then equated his justification by saying no one cried when washing machines were invented to replace people that washed clothes and otherwise by hand. I'm here to remind you that disabled people do not think alike, and it is OK to not listen to every single disabled person with the same velocity that you would not listen to, for example, a gay Nazi. Disabled people can be Tech Bros too. Obviously, hear them out before assuming but I'm here to remind you it's okay to block the minute they crossed that line with your morals.

Hi, I am about to have a meltdown because there has been changes of plans today and I was wearing tights to go with my spooky dress but the tights felt very distressing and that made everything else feel too overwhelming so I have had to take them off and change to try and reduce the overwhelm.
As an aside I'm struggling to get an autism diagnosis...
@alexisbushnell @AudhdDespiteNoisyAbleism First, 🫂.
Second, the *only* tights I can tolerate without my skin crawling are Snag tights. They're pricey, but really good quality.

elementary OS 8.1 is amazing, but still not for everyone
If "AI" boosters were farmers, they'd only buy more combine harvesters in order to be more productive because they think reaping is the only thing there is to do.
@Geri oh, just bring it on. We don't want you anyway. Boycott, Divest, Sanction.
For decades managers searched for a way to measure developer productivity. Now AI has given them tokens, and they're convinced they've discovered the holy grail.
We spent 50 years trying to get rid of managers counting lines of code just for them to reinvent it with extra steps and a cloud bill.
@fribbledom The most interesting question is though perhaps: Why do they need to measure developer productivity?
I mean, really: Why?
Ithaca Energy is an Israeli Company. Its majority owner is the Israeli conglomerate Delek Group.
When you need to multiply 7*8 do you simply have it memorized, or do you need to add, subtract or otherwise connect it to another math fact that you know better?
That is do you simply think "56" or are there more thoughts that lead to 56?
For certain types of multiplication... I multiply by 10 (or 100), 1000 and so forth, then subtract the smaller number.
So 7*8 becomes 70 - 2*7 (14) = 56. Obviously I don't do that with such small numbers, but it does work very well when using larger ones.
By converting the answer into two smaller and quicker to answer ones... I get to the answer quicker than some people trying to do the single way.

more or less confirms that the PHP exploit on Wednesday was overblown, and contrary to claims it would be exploited in 15 mins, we haven’t even seen one confirmed exploit yet. even proof of concept exploits are incredibly hard to write and deploy.
AI companies were lying. again
