All parties without exception, when they seek for power, are varieties of absolutism.

If free software is not about ethics, then what the fuck is its point.
the cloud is just other people's computers
genai is just other people's data
I saw a dog wearing a vest that said "Not friendly, do not approach!"
I wonder where I could get one in my size.

thank you for proving that you supported a actual massacre and supporting ethnic cleansing by the russian government
@juliank @lienrag I agree, however, as an organization and as individuals, I believe there is still an obligation to at least take a moment to think about how their behavior impacts the perception of the movement, especially before emphatically saying that slavery-originated contributions must be acceptable.
And once we have that worked out in software using simple off the shelf stuff on hand and the simplest protocols possible, then can we do usb dongles so we can be really really really sure the private keys stay safe? Hint: There's a product that can be made and sold by sites as an additional stream to help fund public portals to the signed-fediverse.
Dongle should have a physical switch that has to be turned on to flash a set of key-pairs to it and then when turned back appears as a USB device that can be sent text (which could include hashes and checksums for non-text content) and an EOF character and should return a set of signatures using all of the private keys on it (software ignores all but the one we care about).
Maybe no switch, just an SD slot but no USB storage interface or anything presented to the computer, the SD has to be written with the private keys and then inserted but is then safe from being read by anything but the dongle.
Maybe add a touchscreen to require entering a pin/password after inserting the dongle into your computer, but it doesn't really need that.
Okay.. Long rant for the evening finished. Slop Bad, Key-Pairs are a good way of identifying folks, phone numbers and email service providers aren't so much so anymore I'm thinking. And bots can't come to key-signing parties at the local coffee house.
Plus - key-signing parties at the local coffee house sounds nice, actually meeting people in the real world to prove you're human also means... actually... meeting people... in the real world... I kinda remember that, I think?
You can't out-pizza the Hut.

False:
- “Tankie” was coined by orthodox communists to describe and criticize party members who supported the Soviet Union’s use of military tanks to brutally crush the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. And, since you really love sources,
The term “tankie” was originally used by dissident Marxist–Leninists to describe members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) who followed the party line of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Specifically, it was used to distinguish party members who spoke out in defence of the Soviet use of tanks to suppress the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the 1968 Prague Spring, or who more broadly adhered to pro-Soviet positions.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie 2. The Tiannamen Square protests are led by a vast majority of students. Reading the article you cited, it states: “…and are clear that the “protesters” (rioters) initiated the deadly violence in Beijing (none of which occurred in Tiananmen Square itself).” You can see that this mofo denies the massacre happening because it literally didn’t happen in the Square (true, but a non-sequitur). Secondly, that the protestors initiated the violence. The protests were peaceful, until the Chinese government declared martial law and ordered thousands of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops into Beijing. 3. Sure. The article is fucking misleading. Let’s assume it is right, and even then, your (3) is yet again a non-sequitur: because the protestors initiated the violence does not make the massacre justified.

The sources for the blog post in point number 3 are pretty spotty. They quote Western media like the Washington Post or a former Australian official without giving the proper links or citations. The citations to some “Western” sources like Amnesty International are there but these sources are only brought in so the authors can get nitpicky about their word choices. The only solid source I could find was the WikiLeaks source from the US embassy, but that doesn’t contradict the massacre narrative because the wire could have been sent before the violence peaked. The more substantive claims rely on YouTube videos or other blog posts for their sources.
I’m not trying to be hostile by saying this; I’m willing to hear you out. But I will need a far higher standard of rigour before I’m willing to take any of these ideas seriously.
POLL: If it were up to you, would your life be…?
@mcc this question deals more psychic damage the longer I think about it.
@neil IIRC it’s on the end credits. Quite who thought “we’re making a monster movie, let’s get Jamiroquai to do a song for it” I have no idea, but I would quite like some of whatever they were smoking.
@hedders Oh, I didn't get anywhere near as far as the end credits!

Thank you for being open minded. Here is a much better sourced article: canadianpatriot.org/…/the-comprehensive-tiananmen… for the Wikileaks cable, no. It was sent after. peds-ansichten.de/…/1989-07-12_Lilley_Gallo_Tiana…

1: of course your using 3 links referening to communist newspapers and others (what did i expect), Having No Evidence
2: go to this: en.wikipedia.org/…/1989_Tiananmen_Square_protests…, then look and read them all (the ones written in english)
3: no all communist and socialist countries, are not actual democracies in being free
4: there is no evidence with the EU encouraging any form of slave labor, that wasn’t in the 1700s, and also many of those companies that exploit are likely gonna become illegal by some day
5: then why are all those soviet union countries and china and communist nations, exploit people, kill them, and many more, if there was thought in it, none of that would happen
6: your fart lingers on
7: communism hides the issues with its economy, capitalism doesn’t

Import your Google Maps reviews to Mangrove
Did you review places via Google Maps in the past? @mangroveReviews@mas.to now offers a way to import your past reviews, which means they will also appear in CoMaps in future maps!

@CoMaps @mangroveReviews How does that work? is there a database matching Google POIs to OSM POI ?
@Moosader i dunno, in a way that's kinda "real world" though, first step in programming software to do something is always researching and defining exactly what the "something" is and breaking down the logic i'd need to interact with it, though maybe that crosses the line a bit between software engineering and programming and might be out of scope for a class on a programming language.
@raptor85 think of it as a difference between
void Foo( int& bar )
{
bar = 5;
}
(what the fuck does this even mean and why would we do this?)
vs.
void Quadratic( float& x1, float& x2, float a, float b, float c )
{
x1 = ( -b + sqrt( b*b - 4*a*c ) ) / 2*a;
x2 = ( -b - sqrt( b*b - 4*a*c ) ) / 2*a;
}

1: the word “tankie” was made by reformist communistsm not nazis
2: you have a million pieces of evidence about the tanks killing normal people
3: and no, Democracy is a real thing, and capitalism can be regulated with rules (Genius for your chicken strips brain, but not for me), most of the EU is an example
4: there is no thought in communism, communism is the most vague thing on earth, it cannot pair with democracy since it’s so vague
