@ai6yr Saw a "local" Colorado news segment on YT last night. With the closure of Wolf Creek Pass they said the usual 30 min between Pagosa and North Fork is now 4 hours (via NM as the article mentions.)

Women do trust AI less and for good reason. Their voices are missing from spaces where decisions are made, they have to spend time making up for its deficiencies, it disproportionately harms them and they get competence penalties when they do use it.

So I used Morphe to unfuck Facebook Messenger (I'm forced to use it), and it's like a breath of fresh air carrying a glass of ice water in Phoenix, Arizona.

I can't believe this just works.

@freebliss that's the thing though, i don't think accountability goes away, it didn't when we started submitting generated code, with or without disclaimer, we still own and should be able to explain, if we don't look at the code anymore, we still need to know why we trust it, and take the responsibility seriously. But i don't want to pretend that we had it figured out before llms, we did ship buggy code we thought we understood, and had these "how did it ever work" moments, so the bar is not being flawlessness, it's doing better, and it irks me when people blame any and all bugs on GenAI now, as if we only just started to make bugs.

So i won't jump over it blind, but i'm certainly peering, GenAI-based error detection systems i experimented with do find heaps of issues worth adressing in real-world systems built before them, so if quality is the aim, the tech can certainly help with that.

@j_angliss - Cheers for saying so. And yeah, I always say it wasn't my choice to move out here, but this town and area are a wonderful place to end up.

I was just starting to get into all of this fully in Dallas and there are some really cool groups and initiatives going on out there. I imagine I would have dug in further if I would have stayed.

Anyhoo, I miss y'all as well! I hope to get back soon for a visit.

The American people voted for a new kind of politics, not for old guard politicians to anoint themselves with titles just because they’ve held power for so long.

This is hurting Dutch ASN Bank users daily, regardless of which non-Google certified Android they use.

If free software is not about ethics, then what the fuck is its point.

Aber das wäre unverhältnismäßig............. <./sarcasm>

@fesshole Oh this has been the bane of my peeing for years! There's *no* consistency with how different manufacturers indicate which button is which. Some have a half filled in circle engraved on one button and a fully filled in circle on the other, that's probably one of the clearest designs, but others are just dreadfully confusing as you describe. For example, here's the buttons on my cistern: The left button is half flush, the right full. The clue is that the left button sits a bit lower than the right (what the horizontal ridges on it are supposed to indicate is anyone's guess).

Just label them 1 & 2 ffs! Or engrave one raindrop on one and two on the other, it's really not hard you idiots.

The Green Chamber

Dont forget the instance operators who actually keep the servers running. Donations keep instances up.

And if you can, send some money their way. This place runs on donations.
