Oh we’re buying CVE authorship now. Can’t wait to see the used car salesmen of InfoSec with CVEs on their resume.

@erdstern (Trying to imagine what it would be like to grow back from a tiny bit of rhizome ... !)
it would be simply natural 🤭
@agrant We are rebuilding Ivory from the ground up which will support the Duo. There is no timeline for it at the moment, but it will be worth the wait.
@Theriac @riverpunk @lrhodes Yep and they are cowards.
Because the choice of lying to exploit our labour is cowardly. When they are called out on that exploitation they like to put the blame on the rest of us who call it out.
But our values are different, they matter and they should have the courage of their convictions. I don't want to work with fascists , nor do I want to work with their enablers.
No we can't just all get along, one side is against Human Rights.
@Nerdherz@pixelfed.de Bevor du DAS aufgibst, solltest du vielleicht überlegen, statt Kamera deinen Mann an den Nagel zu hängen. Ich will es einfach nicht glauben . . .☹️ #ki

I remember Mastodon was working on groups so I imagine interaction from Mastodon to Lemmy would improve. Bonfire is rolling out groups pretty soon it seems. I’ve been trying it for a while now and I access both microblogs and groups from Bonfire.
likewise, i’ve rarely if ever seen a post from lemmy on mastodon. these two platforms just don’t seem to interact much. the fediverse is already very small. fragmenting it even further by having multiple services that basically don’t talk to each other is not good
I think part of this is the initial desire to model Fediverse platforms after mainstream counterparts. So you have Instagram-but-federated, Twitter-but-federated, Reddit-but-federated, YouTube-but-federated, TikTok-but-federated. These platforms don’t really interact with each other directly, so the Fediverse ended up modeling that incompatibility, too.
That’s the area projects like Mbin and Bonfire seem to be better at.

@riverpunk For about five years I've looked around the landscape and found FOSS lacking. It's not my home anymore. Which is a part of the reason why my @cobbles blog exists.
@librecast was already fairly aligned with CASA principles, it's nice that other folks feel like we do. It's been lonely.
@riverpunk I like @lrhodes ideas about CASA.
One of our major weaknesses in FOSS is the focus on the freedoms of code and implicitly Free Speech. Which is how you end up with Nazi Bars and Big Tents.
Freedom of Association is just as important, otherwise you do not have communities that are safe for folks to contribute to.
We should be open about our beliefs and politics. You cannot separate tech from the politics of it's creators and maintainers.

@ai6yr
I bought a few cookbooks recently, and they all required quite a bit of research to find ones which had been around a while and had authors generally recognized as experts. There's just so much slop everywhere now.
Successful night tonight, my chums. Very lovely to have unlocked a new level in life of going out with non-drinking male friends. Difficult to convey the alcohol culture in the UK, but you're basically indoctrinated into going out with your mates and getting annihilated on alcohol and that's essentially your whole social and personal relationships. Unsurprisingly this has a knock on effect to many other areas of your lives. Culturally it's not terribly healthy. So I'm thrilled to have discovered going out on a Saturday night to a shisha joint and just banging a load of sparkling water, tea, a bit of food and having a shisha. Also not terrifically good for you, but a far cry from drinking 8 pints and getting in fights. Had a laugh, talked about our feelings and listened to one another and came away from it validated and positive and crucially will wake up tomorrow (today) feelin' fine. Although I went slightly overboard on the sweet potato fries and hummus. Like a wildman. Men! You too can do this and still be a total double-dog alpha male. Grrr. Had so much hummus mate. You should have seen my BiL. Went mental on the shisha and had 4 cokes. We cannot be stopped. Also - we talked about our hopes and worries in a way that was supportive and nurturing. Oi oiiiiii!
@TheBreadmonkey you crazy devil! 😁👍
incredible take from one of the GNU maintainers, seriously
@ariadne False equivalency plus "Yet you live in a society, curious I am very intelligent" meme, used to justify a choice.

This seem to stem from a misunderstanding. Lemmy and Mastodon have different goals. Users of each generally don’t want the other’s content generally showing up en masse.
If you want to see something from Mastodon, you can usually get it on Lemmy, and vice versa. I don’t often see Mastodon posts either, but that’s because I only follow Lemmy communities, so I only see them when someone on Mastodon tags a Lemmy community in their post. If you want to see more Mastodon content, see if you can follow some users or hashtags from Lemmy.
But that might not be supported; I haven’t tried. If you prefer Mastodon, I’m pretty sure that you can follow Lemmy communities from there.
Hawk Hill Manor
Tutorial
Basic System is finished. There is still a lot to do, but I think from here, things can be simplified, as they will be expansions on existing ideas
As always, feedback appreciated
