XXL transport containers: Two huge #Roman wooden barrels in an outstanding state of preservation, found in Xanten. Both had a capacity of approx. 1250 l and were used to transport #wine from the Mediterranean region to the Lower Rhine. They were recycled for lining wells.

I have a mouse!
@neil Over the winter, I've often thought a heated mouse would stop my hand getting cold when I'm using my laptop. Looks like you've found a neat solution 🤗

I would really be fine following some Lemmy communities on Mastodon, but the Lemmy developers have made the absurd choice to have a community reblog every single comment made on one of its posts. Why??? Threadiverse users don’t see it like that, they just see the posts.

It’s quite trivial to follow a Lemmy community or user.from Mastodon. Then it’s just on your feed like normal. To post a new thread from Mastodon you just @ mention the community. On oirFed you can hashtag your post, too.
It’s really following Mastodon from Lemmy that’s a challenge. As there’s no mechanism to follow users or hashtags here.

Peertube actually maps to Mastodon quite well. You can follow channels, and every time they post a new video, you get a small (or not) post with the video title, description and hashtags, and a link to watch the video on the original instance.

Oj!
CBS put out this report showing direct images of US bases Iran destroyed throughout West Asia.
"We're not defending these bases. We're just watching them get destroyed." a solder is quoted explaining the situation.
These images of destruction were all sent in by US service members themselves on the ground at these bases from the first month of war.
One image of a destroyed jet is interesting bc the military called that one "light" damage lol.
So, I've had a unique experience with AI, especially in a medical setting.
I studied Machine Learning and what we used to call AI, when I was in grad school.
What is being pushed by Big Tech is not that. They are pushing the fascist manifestation.
Anyway, earlier this year, I was almost clear of cancer.
And then I had a CT scan that convinced my Oncologist, and me, that it was back. That I'd be going through Chemo and more.
For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

@dskywalk nice, I need to fetch the thing from the car and try it out!
I can't think of a better illustration of the fundamentally selfish, libertarian foundation of the free software movement than a GNU maintainer loudly affirming that contributions known to be produced by slave labor are welcome without reservation https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2026-11/msg00128.html
