This seem to stem from a misunderstanding. Lemmy and Mastodon have different goals. Users of each generally don’t want the other’s content generally showing up en masse.

If you want to see something from Mastodon, you can usually get it on Lemmy, and vice versa. I don’t often see Mastodon posts either, but that’s because I only follow Lemmy communities, so I only see them when someone on Mastodon tags a Lemmy community in their post. If you want to see more Mastodon content, see if you can follow some users or hashtags from Lemmy.

But that might not be supported; I haven’t tried. If you prefer Mastodon, I’m pretty sure that you can follow Lemmy communities from there.

@dajb The bit that stayed with me: a day rate means little if nobody agrees how long a day is. Six billable hours is not eight, and neither counts pitches, admin or chasing invoices. Price it backwards — what you need in a year, divided by the hours you can actually bill, not 40 a week. And your group's rule is the right lever when the budget is short: cut the scope, keep the rate. Cutting the rate just teaches the next client to ask.

Star Trek would be the best universe to get isekai'd into, because they'd be nice and actually pretty understanding.

"I'm from another dimension or something and I don't know how I got here!"

O'Brien: "...that can happen, we'll run some scans on you or whatever, maybe we can find a weird field and reverse it to send you home?"

"And in the other universe, everything here is a work of fiction!"

Sisko: "That actually happened to me once..."

@ZaphodOfTexas a friend of mine touched my shoulders ONCE, said “Oh, you weren’t kidding about storing all your stress there.” And immediately gave me the contact information for her massage person. 🤣😅 my massage lady uses her elbows a LOT but she’s the only person who has ever been able to get my shoulders back into place.

For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.

How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

@mattblaze
I am aware, and I have, and I think you'll find that your ballots are a lot less special than you're convinced they are. And I also think you'll find that once your country stops attempting to have such an overweening influence on *everyone else's* politics, we might quiet down a bit.

But no, you're so very special and it's right that you're special and have way too much influence over everyone else's politics.

Go fuck yourself.

@ranjit 🤣

I've been carrying around an idea for a federated code forge for a while. Two things sharpened it recently: Tangled's post on the federated code forge, which builds a forge on the AT Protocol, and a Jujutsu workshop (Korean) by Seongmin Lee (@boltless.me), who works at Tangled, held at @turingappledev.

My version would build on ForgeFed, the #ActivityPub protocol for code forges (spec), so that repositories, issues and merge requests federate the way posts already do. The idea is early enough that I haven't even come up with a codename. What I want from it, roughly:

• Git and Jujutsu (so-called jj) as equal clients. Not Git hosting with Jujutsu support bolted on, but a forge that understands both, so what Jujutsu is actually good at, stacked changes, becomes a first-class unit of review instead of a pile of separate pull requests.
• No owner layer. Since the point is federation, one instance represents one person or one organization, permissions are managed per server, and a repository lives at forge.example/myrepo instead of forge.example/owner/myrepo.
• A migration path off GitHub that keeps the history. Importing the code is easy; importing the issues, pull requests and discussions with their original authors attached is the part that matters. I'd keep a placeholder for each GitHub account and let whoever owns that account prove it, after which the instance swaps in their fediverse actor, so attribution carries over. How to express that claim in ActivityPub is the part I haven't figured out. It may need a new FEP.

Where this stands: I haven't read the whole #ForgeFed spec, Fedify doesn't ship the vocabulary yet (fedify-dev/fedify#751), and I have too much else going on to start soon. If you've run a forge or implemented ForgeFed, I'd like to hear whether any of this makes sense.

@lzg Sensible long term thinking.

"It was a gargantuan win for Biden"

What the fuck is that dimbulb smoking. Biden won by 50,000 votes, the razor thinnest of possible margins. If 50,000 voters across a few swing states had voted differently, the other guy would have won.

The Epstein class apparently doesn't even have access to high-quality information.

@cluelesstoshika @grepe 😁

@andrewdoull In other words, I challenge you to run RQ using "full turns" instead of minutes.
It's going to be hard. A lot of the mechanics, such as spell durations, are expressed in minutes and hours. RQ isn't built on full turns. I think they're just a remnant of Steve Perrin taking his D&D house rules and turning them into RQ.

The Sentinel logo received eleven slices from the light arcs in the reveal trailer. I've seen a lot of people speculate that this is intended as a hint of when another announcement is. A lot of people are guessing it is supposed to hint at 11/11/27 for another announcement, as the light slices hit their peak when there is 27 seconds left int he video

While I wouldn't personally jump fully onboard with this, this would not be the first secret message hidden in Bethesda marketing materials if it turns out to be true.

@manolo this doesn’t look like macOS.

saw movies? uh yeah i sure hope you have

OK, I just saw someone posting about a project called Terra Tempora (https://terra-tempora.com/?ref=mastodon), which claims to let you "scroll through history", searching for battles, treaties, and "tracking civilisations".

Unfortunately the whole thing is a classic object lesson in why we shouldn't entrust our understanding of history to data scraping and AI processing, which is pretty clearly a core basis for the project. Here's some examples.
