There are **4** r's in that sentence:
1. st**r**awberry
2. st**r**awbe**rr**y (third r)
3. st**r**awbe**rr**y (fourth r)
4. **r**'s (in the first part of the sentence)

@virtuosew @ColinTheMathmo Do you do this charitably to spread your message, or is this your profession? If the latter, don’t do it to raise your profile - you already have that and should now be getting paid for that. I do presentations because it raises my company’s profile for contract work, but they pay me. As a freelancer, this is how you earn your money and you shouldn’t give away your product for free. If they put it online, maybe ask for a percentage of advertising revenue?
@Martin_Whitworth It is my profession, and I don't need the exposure ... but I expect I will enjoy the evening.
Just ... tricky.

The stock market is a sign of a healthy economy. It only loses value when we make bad decisions, such as telling corporations that they might need to start obeying the law and be less corrupt.

How to expand a Control object to fill its H/Vbox container in Godot 4
Been struggling with this for too long before discovering this, made this video so you don’t have to.
Tested with Godot 4.8, but this feature has probably been around since 4.0.

British soldier ignored order to pull his SIM card, then got blackmailed
Soldier told repeatedly to lock down devices before deploying, got sextorted, court-martialed.

@arstechnica I still want to understand how connecting to a Russian dodgy cell tower gets your data exposed. I mean that could then happen to anyone if someone sets up a strong enough signal?

@Vicinus@piefed.zip - Didn’t want to post this twice and figured you might miss it considering how deep this conversation is.

How votes are viewed is a user setting, letting anyone choose if they want combined, separate, or a percentage. Is this something you would also like settable as a global instance default choice?
Such a person should have access to a “connectivity health” monitoring tool yes, but I don’t see why it would need to be on a per-post basis. Not having hosted an instance myself, I would naively hope that such a tool already exists, even if it is not graphical?
We mostly use Grafna
Also I occasionally search for PyLova and I love reading this comment chain when I do, thanks for contributing so many ideas.
All the credit goes to you who actually bothered to implement them, that’s so great to see!!! 😁

Probably would have missed it. Appreciate the tag :)

Honestly, as long as I can easily enable it, it doesn’t matter to me if everyone has it by default (only viewed your instance without logging in). Might be worth a user poll, but I have no idea how wanted that feature is.
FYI I altered my [FR] on Codeburg to reflect you’d already implementing the feature.

Link doesn’t work, but I think I know what it’ll look like.
Given both your responses, it seems I didn’t conveyed the idea well to OpenStars. My understanding is that an instance sends to the appropriate “hosting instance” a post or comment. My thought is, if it doesn’t already happen, have the “hosting instance” send an ‘acknowledgement’ back to the sending instance. Then, if the comment has been ‘acknowledged’, the sending instance would put an indicator on the comment (check mark or something) to show “yes, my user, your activity successfully arrived at it’s destination.”
In my mind, this wouldn’t be every instance checking every other instance’s user’s activity to make sure it federated properly. This would be an instance confirming things for only its own users.
Hopefully that makes sense. I graphical up-time graph is probably nice to have too. I was going to say those are available on fediverse measurement sites, but with a quick look, it seems like that was a Fediverse-Observer (RIP) only feature.

Happy to help and thanks for being so responsive, open-minded, and just all around great :)
Edit: when making my comment to OpenStars, I checked a post I made to the !servo@programming.dev community yesterday, which did not federate (https://programming.dev/c/Servo is missing my post).
I think the “acknowledgement” feature could also help elevate the issue entirely. I’m not sure how to ‘force’ a re-submission of my post, but if an instance didn’t get an ‘acknowledgement’ the instance could check that the ‘"hosting instance” is still receiving and then try resend the post/comment after a certain time interval.

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.
I realize they aren’t private and don’t care.
I vote on such a small minority of things that those few things I do vote on, I have no problem with people knowing it was me.
@gsuberland one more reason why changing profile picture after you had the same one for a long while is kinda rude
@dequbed @gsuberland petition to slowly morph profile pictures over the course of 3 weeks

Is it time for the vice president to call section 4 of the 25th amendment? (Yes, I am aware this only succeeds with a two-thirds supermajority vote in BOTH the House Of Representatives and the Senate).
(I had to check if this post by Trump was real, because I was convinced it must be fake. It isn't.)

@jwildeboer It doesn't need a Congressional supermajority - just the majority of the cabinet. The Congress *can* remove the President with a supermajority, for "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" in office.
