not. at all. i consider anything i put here akin to standing on my nearest street corner during rush hour, shouting into the darkness
confused how anyone could think anything otherwise.
what is a good domain registrar that won't decide to randomly suspend my domains demanding i submit my passport scan?
because if namecheap does that to me i am suing the everloving fuck out of them
@ariadne I've given up giving registration recommendations. Because every time I do, the registrar goes out of business or completes their villain arc or something.
@phillycodehound I know this feeling and am saddened by it.
@bobmonsour yea. It’s frustrating.
#International friends.. Cat question!!
Our cats are quite good with western doors, they can push and pull open as needed.
But! Our sliding bathroom door confuses them handily and they just smash into it over and over.
So my big question......
How do cats in sliding door places manage doors?

@jeffhorton The universal cat key: scratch and meow until a human comes to help.
I do *not* need a portable metal folding bow.
However, I will still show it to you because it's kind of cool and I wonder just how compact and effective such a weapon could be.
@futurebird 40 pound draw weight?? holy moley. If that's true this thing packs some real power.
Chemicals in sewage-based fertilizer may persist in farmland soil for years

The real story of gen AI is the story of widespread, uncoordinated, unreported resistance.
When you see a CEO firing people who don’t use enough AI, the real story is that many of their employees refuse to do so unless their livelihood is held hostage.
When you see AI added to an application, present on every page, impossible to remove, the real story is that customers won’t use it unless it’s forced down their throats.
AI rejection is everywhere if you read between the lines.
"Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life
If these aren’t the longest lasting socks you’ve ever owned, you can return them to us for another pair. No receipt needed, just the pair in question."
(definitely not the longest lasting socks I have owned, but better than current Smartwool socks)

@ai6yr i just blew the heel out of my last of my original smartwools from high school. Sad day. The new ones just aren’t the same.
@phillycodehound Yeah I understand and I think your app is pretty cool, it wasn't what I meant though.
I mean platforms like harmony that promise a lot but clearly have bugs (like adopting megaolm)
@dansup got it. It’s not you it’s the whole vibe, pun not intended lol.

There's even a coffee mug stain on the desk.
Today, we celebrate Marie Skłodowska-Curie's birthday and her remarkable achievements as the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first scientist to win it in two different scientific fields.
Her name lives on through the EU's Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, supporting researchers across Europe and beyond.
👏 Here's to Marie and the next generation of scientific pioneers!
@EUCommission
She's absolutely *glowing* in those pictures!
{I'll show myself out...}
@mastodonmigration
Fortunately, I'm seeing organizers on other platforms making this point. People are being instructed to call in and demand a public statement from their electeds.
@srol I mean, that's the nod to TOS, right? That's what ties it back to the TOS version of that scenario but inverts it.
@wlonk I liked this better as an enemy-of-my-enemy story than a divine judgment one. TOS loved its silly godlike species, it had like a dozen of them. I'm really fine with leaving most of them in the dustbin of Trek history. This is my personal complaint about post-Berman Trek. It's so in love with TOS. We've had decades of Trek since then. Let's move on.
@sleepytako Came through Osaka like a freight train.
@tsturm yeah that was surprisingly smooth. I'm on the 7th floor of a building right in front of Gifu station.
The real damage, I fear, was down near the coast. Near Kuwana I expect
That was the biggest I've felt in years and I was in Palm Springs for the Landers quake.
I wonder if the quality of Trekz/Aftershokz bone-conductive headphones is decreasing?
I've used them for ages, as has Sandra, and we have had multiple pairs.
The charging port on Sandra's last pair just feel apart. So we replaced them.
Now, something has happened to the lefthand bud of mine, so that it rattles.
I definitely use them a lot - every day - but it is still annoying.
I think American healthcare is not a priority change because the *majority* of Americans already (individually) receive the same or better healthcare than in most European/etc. countries from both a financial and quality perspective.
I mean yes everyone would be wayyyy better off financially with more efficient universal healthcare, instead of just comparable, and it would also be way more equitable. But equity doesn’t matter for most voters unfortunately, and the finances are simply not a pressing issue for most voters either in the same way daily price changes like fuel and groceries are.
Like even if the USA could save $5,000/person/year on healthcare, I think people don’t really conceptually think about theoretical gains like that when consumer purchasing power is already 2nd in the world. An extra $2K-$5K in people’s hands wouldn’t be bringing most people in the country up to a useful standard of living, it would just make the gap in spending power compared to other countries laughably wider in a way that probably seems impossible.
So it is basically a tyranny of the majority situation for the people who do actually lack access to care. Healthcare is not really a big motivator for people to go out and vote 🙃
I found this photo in an eBay listing for a batch of used pinball-machine balls in July of 2000.
I didn't bid, but I messaged the seller letting them know they absolutely made my day with this photo and they replied with gratitude. I even set it as the desktop image on a computer I used in the arcade workshop I worked in at the time.
It's been sitting on my hard drives for 26 years, and I no longer wish to keep it to myself.
