If you do happen to find an old lamp, give a rub, and a genie pops out offering three wishes, no matter how surprised you are, try not to yell "Fuck me!"
@dgar My first thought was, "why?" and then the film Three Thousand Years of Longing...

Let me repeat what I'm saying for the last 3+ decades
At some point it's better to look at an old code base, make sure it's as thoroughly documented as possible (esp. the foot guns) and do a clean reimplementation without lagacy cruft.
DO NOT implement new functionality into the old codebase but implement it in the new one and backport from there when needed.
Regression testing and corner case testing shouldn't be done by the same team.
Edit: Under no cirmcumstances can an LLM be used for any of that.
@dragonwolfsp I just deployed the fix for this, take care!
@dansup I'll take a look now.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net they make noise? I didn’t know that. I don’t think we’ll get one now. Even air-to-air ones?
@u0421793 It's not a lot of noise and I guess most people won't even notice the soft humming. But I am extremely sensitive to noises, especially during the night.
Floof on fluff.

Just visited the awesome Beat Street Records on W. Hastings in Vancouver.
Wonderful place, wonderful staff, and came away with an absolute trove (I’ll post my entire trip haul once I’m back on the island).
I still have several more hours to go until my rescheduled canceled ferry departs.
Where to now?
Me might head to Audiopile next.

Next week, I'm presenting at a 'Just Enough AI' even hosted by the University of Bristol and Friends of the Earth.
This is one of my 'backup' slides, using systems dynamics to explain why people default to Big Tech.
Went to a trivia night at my husband’s work and whoever put it together obviously used AI for the questions and slides.
It was so sloppy! Verbose, incoherent questions, incorrect and repeated words that affected meaning, text explaining the wrong answer instead of the correct one.
You can tell when a quiz writer doesn’t play or like trivia. This was even worse. The disrespect! You don’t even proofread it? And in front of all your colleagues! I do not get how people do this.
@lynnandtonic all of this sounds miserable. As someone who pub quizzes, this is so so disheartening.
@dansup wonderful! I think that might be the fastest responce I've gotten on an accessibility issue in the history of... well... ever.

@dansup will do! Also, I was having issues with hashtag feed only returning 9 videos and not taking my token for authenticated feed. Could you please check what’s up with that? Thank you!
@Punah That is intentional, to prevent scraping!
@APBBlue I'm not, but I'll go give it a listen, thank you! I'm generally not a fan of electro swing personally, but I have no idea what this new dances style will become or what folks there will like, so I should probably have a range of stuff to play!
@sam I'm no swing expert for sure, but it shows up on my Pandora station, and I enjoy it. 😊
there are a lot of games across the video game spectrum where someone got scared that their game might be too short so they made it longer without adding anything to it
usually not the porn games because in order to make this game design mistake you need to have a game design in the first place
but there is a very related problem of not having a game at all and then adding some kind of minigame that your game is a few porn gifs stapled to
still thinking about that genAI slop visual novel about having a femboy roommate where legitimately the only gameplay or story in the entire game was a button that said "develop game" that added 10 to a counter and a button that said "make pizza" that subtracted 15 from that counter
and it's apparently one of the most popular yaoi visual novels on itch

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.
I don’t worry about that. I have no expectation that up/downvotes be not tied to my username.
