A word about the bookcases...
I inherited 4 sets of the stacking barrister/glass fronted bookcases, all made 1900-1910. 3 were oak, and one was stained to look like black walnut and had leaded glass in two stacks. All were in excellent condition.
I recall my parents collecting them in the 1970's, and my father saying then that $100/per single stack was a very good price.
So far, I've given one 4-stack bookcase away, sold a 5-stack one for $850, and have two 5-stack ones in shops. One is priced at $800 with instructions for the shopkeeper to go as low as $500 if offered, and the other one is priced at $700 and has been sitting there for 3 years. I dread the day that shopkeeper gets tired of not selling it and calls me to come and get it!
My take on those bookcases is that they are classy and lovely, and that very few people actually want them...
@futurebird "Have you ever punched in on a calculator, 'X = X/2 + 1' or something, and run it again and again to see what number it eventually turns into?
With the Mandelbrot set we found a process like that, "X = X squared plus C". And we discovered depending on which C we chose, this process either blows up and goes infinite, or it turns into a number.
So we made a graph. We picked different complex Cs, and at each point we checked if X=X^2+C blows up, or if it becomes a number."
@mjj @davidgerard Hey, what's more liberating than paying some of the most unethical corporations on Earth to help you hack your toaster. I mean, what do you expect them to do…actual advocacy?
@ai6yr As you write (again) I wonder how many years have past since the last one. I guess it were much less than 1000.
And still there are too many people out there that don´t want to see those changes.
@mythlfrythtyg Well, there was a 1-in-1000 year rain event in Florida on Monday.

Whoever is pushing for Jeffries & Schumer to stay in leadership it sure as heck isn’t the people...
An NBC poll from four days ago showed Hakeem Jeffries with an approval rating of 18%. Chuck Schumer at 13%. This should be case closed.
Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries telling us they're gonna hold Republicans accountable and stop taking AIPAC money.

@mastodonmigration also, Lucy and the football.

@9to5Mac watching this supports abusive asshole Gordon Ramsey, so make your choice wisely.
@mike I misspoke slightly. The $1B is an overall budget item with $200M for a mental health and addictions facility and the balance for new housing and services to provide services like transitional and permanent supported housing. The term ‘generational changes’ does not seem out of place.
@socool nice :-)
I will be there :-)
@Kikhausen Wonderful! I hope you will enjoy the music :)
People are freaking out about this, but I'm not. I'm sure having Stephen Miller in charge of the whole White House political operation is going to lead to some crazy shit. But I don't think a good strategy for making an unpopular administration more popular is "let's hand the keys to Vlad the Impaler"
@jalefkowit freaking out? I actually loved to hear it. Susie Wiles was the real danger that kept his admin afloat. To double down he pushed her out. That's awesome!

If you are wondering what precisely we are building here at Amutable, here's a blog story with a technical overview. This is *the* blog story you should read to understand Amutable OS and Amutable Control Plane and how they relate.
What's a #BonkWave and how do you surf one?
You see.. when a #BonkWave and a #NotBonkWave live each other very much…
Mobilizon fait peau neuve!

Finishing my study of Papyrix's "RenderTypes" support library...
There's a superclass for "blocks" which can layout & render themselves by deferring appropriate method on GfxRenderer; as well as finishing their work & indicate which subclass they are or whether its empty. And they can be cached on the SD card, aided by a helper library.
There's Image & Text Block subclasses, with the Image subclass loading bitmaps from the SD card & falling back to rendering placeholder text.
1/2!
“To the extent that there’s this emboldened sense that we want to do something to rein in tech companies, consumer data privacy is the way to go,” EFF’s India McKinney told @cnet. “If we have a new electorate that is newly emboldened to stand up to bullies, let’s start there.” https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/midterm-election-2026-democrats-rein-in-big-tech-reaction/
Also there's a BlockStyle class storing the CSS Box Model, & summing properties.
1.1/1.1 Fin for today!
That was simpler than I thought it'd be. Since I've already studied the helper libraries for computer graphics & (de)serialization... Tomorrow: Auto-hyphenation!
