I was feeling pretty good about my personal site’s bot-blocking efforts, but the last few days my largest referrer by far is aocr dot org (apparently a symptom of a ByteDance crawler 😑)
@tylersticka oh I was wondering what that domain was! so random.
@afreytes Couldn’t we just have socialism?
@majorlinux
I tell people I don't want more money, I just want to need it less!
It's not on bandcamp but I've just uploaded this piece of personal history, BWWI's only gig ever with a real drummer.
Maybe one day with the new songs, would be soo cool

i think it fucking rocks that Amy Acton is letting Vivek's congratulations call go to voicemail/not trying to kiss and make up. We need more examples of women maintaining boundaries around their well-being, especially with shitty men.
“The reason is not that people are Luddites”
Taps on textbook/historical definition of Luddite… that is me actually.
@rebeld DC protestors are actually a variety of anti-vaxxer! I didn't know that! and still don't

Most people? Certainly the 43 people who upvoted me.
Another question for fedi: what audio interfaces or mixers are controllable directly from alsamixer or similar on Linux?
I know the Scarlet Focusrites can be. I'm particularly curious about the Bitwig 4/12 and Arturia AudioFuse Studio Rev2, but any other suggestions for stuff that I don't have to use their proprietary software for (even if it supports Linux) would be great.
This is very interesting because it's someone publicly quitting-and-denouncing "AI" research based on *actual* harms the technology does *now*, rather than wild fantasies of things it *might* do in future. https://social.coop/@cstanhope/117569603811492386
I predict this will get like 1/100th or 1/1000th the media attention of the guy who publicly quit a few months ago "whistleblowing" that the AI companies are building superintelligent skynet supergod
It's…not especially readable. The letter isn't. Lots of use of bold
How would you explain the mandelbrot set to a sixth grade student who is trying to distract you from teaching your substitute lesson on solving linear equations?
(I swear to god these kids pass around lists of which topics distract which teachers most easily. They know the ants won't work, it's too obvious. But this was a good one.)
Said student also has some peers convinced that the mandelbrot set will "eat you" and I haven't done much to clear up this rumor.
You could just show the little smart alecs the Julia set and really freak them out?
Plan. Strategize. Take the power back. You have house AND senate now. Do something with it immediately.
Start impeachment sessions. Dismantle ICE. Restore employment for African Americans. Protect trans youth. Protect what’s left of the DOE. Start the process of forging student loans. Restore Obamacare. Pick your presidential candidate and yes, plan for YET ANOTHER COUP ATTEMPT on the United States.
There is nothing to celebrate. Get to WORK.

Damn… We should really start fighting for a world where people making the option of not using digital technologies are respected, as written in the Off-Punk Manifesto…

When covid started I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t on Twitter or reddit or Facebook. I was in college, doing that and had a baby. We watched cartoons and when they slept I’d read and write. I had no idea until no one was on the road or at Walmart with me. I had no idea how to even get information about what was happening, so I went to the county website and found nothing. my professors stopped livestreaming and sent helpful information about it the same week so I got it.
Turned out the city had a Facebook page that people were getting their information from. And there was also a Twitter.
Then my kid gets to be school aged. The fucking school used Facebook and twitter to communicate with parents. I missed so many programs, and lacked information about everything that happened there.
Fucking hate it.
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
