@sleet01 The important thing is that there are no long-term costs associated with code churn

Is anyone here familiar with coves.social? It's using a modified version of the Photon frontend, displaying Lemmy posts, and claims to use AT Protocol
EDIT: The developer has replied in this thread, see below :)
We banned a spammer from this instance recently, and I went to see what instance it was coming from (in case there was more)
coves.social/community-guidelines
Coves is built on the AT Protocol, which means it’s part of a larger decentralized network. Your account and identity exist on your Personal Data Server (PDS), not on our servers. These guidelines and our moderation only apply to the official Coves AppView at coves.social. Other instances of Coves or other AT Protocol services have their own policies and moderation. If you’re banned or have content removed from our AppView, your AT Protocol identity and data on your PDS are unaffected — you can still use other services on the network.
They do credit Photon and they have released the source code for their modified frontend: coves.social/legal
I also found this on their GitHub: github.com/BrettM86/tidepool
Tidepool is a read-only ActivityPub → atproto bridge for the threadiverse. It follows Lemmy/PieFed/Mbin communities (FEP-1b12 group federation), materializes their posts, comments, and profiles as social.coves.* records in a virtual PDS it operates itself, and serves them over com.atproto.sync.* so the Coves AppView indexes fediverse communities exactly as it indexes native ones. Votes stay bridge-side as aggregates behind one sanctioned XRPC.
EDIT: The developer has confirmed that two-way federation is planned
I think it’s neat that someone is working on this, but I’m a bit concerned that it’s read only from the threadiverse:
They would suffer from a problem similar to what we have, when someone sets up a Reddit repost bot. Users interacting with some content while not knowing that their replies aren’t reaching the original posterthey get content without giving content back
Coin-op is a subject that most technology and entertainment historians hardly acknowledge as legitimate.
And yet, sometimes coin-op machines make an impact on culture.
This is Auto Test, the electro-mechanical driving simulator that challenged a "real" industry.
there was also one for a weight gain themed game jam and if you're going to use a weird font for your game PLEASE make sure it's legible
so here's my third attempt at finding something to play from the itch.io new queue
yes, it's like 99% genAI slop on there and 0.9% non-genAI slop porn
this game apparently takes place in a hotel that's made out of wet cardboard

I'm the dev here if anyone has any questions, I was waiting till it was in a more finalized state to announce it. Also full transparency since this community is a little more sensitive on it, this project has been agentically built over the course of the last 1-2 years, but I am a SWE in my day job.
I'm sure most people here would be more curious about the ActivityPub -> atproto bridge, I call this Tidepool code is here: https://tangled.org/bretton.dev/tidepool
I'm planning full Lemmy / Piefed / Pylova federation, the goal is not only to be read only here! Ex my comment is from Coves! Communities themselves aren't being federated yet though.
OP I'd love to know what was spamming you, I can help tackle that we don't have many users and signups are disabled, but I do have some automated bot posts running but those shouldn't be federating yet.
Anyway Discord is claiming they've got a long-simmering Rust rewrite of their client that replaces React Native with a "fully native" client. Anyone know what Rust UI framework they're actually using here, or if they wrote their own?
The thing about Rust UI frameworks is that the community LOVES creating UI frameworks but hates finishing them. I've seen so many "adequate" Rust UIs and grope to locate one which I would describe as "Macintosh Quality"
(Though based on what the Macintosh users have been saying about the last few releases, this may be an outdated term)
I know there's a ferry, but I'd prefer to go by land.
@malte regional trains. Or FlixBus
@cfmccarthy 🤷♀️
@VeroniqueB99 @cfmccarthy It's a photo from 2022 posted on Facebook ( src: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/11/4/800122683/community/ive-been-on-the-verge-of-tears-all-morning-this-sent-me-over-the-edge/ ) so, this is a fakenews but it is really relayed unfortunately (Reddit, thread, Bluesky, etc...). With a blue, white, red flag, (or europe colors) it's often lighted this way. You can check the eiffel tower right now, many webcam online are on it (also nothing in French press about it...) webcam live: https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/france/ile-de-france/paris/tour-eiffel.html
that being said, I'm happy for the blue wave anyway 😉
@janellecshane Hope we finally find out if it's possible to synthesize excited bromide in an argon matrix! And if I need bunny slippers for it!
@SidFudd let’s just say I have comments on the laser safety protocols of that lab

What “this” are you referring to? The community? The mod list is on the sidebar. I assume that info federates to piefed.
God do I miss StumpWM. LORD do I miss it.
@cwebber I miss OpenBox

@futzle yeah and sometimes very slight/subtle changes in rhythm can lead to a huge impact on phrasing! It's a thing I've been focusing a lot on lately with my music.
@fluffy @futzle people can certainly hate on Coldplay all day (seriously, they can), but Chris Martin has that particular technique down to a science.
In general, his phrasing changes across verses and choruses is subtle and masterful. It's always designed for emotional impact.
Or maybe designed is too strong a word, I don't know, it might be instinctual for him. Either way, it's impressive.
