A year ago I added AI Labels to Loops, and now they are coming to Pixelfed with C2PA support and Loops is getting C2PA as well ✨
@paul_ipv6 "Hope" is really shitty way of saying "We need to recoup the ungodly amount of money we have spent to incorporate AI agents into our ordering system" 🤭 😉 @ai6yr
I butchered this track when we played it on our livestream this past summer, but I still like it and it makes me chuckle. I think it rocks but in a slightly goofy way.

Casio says it passed 100 million watches shipped in 1984, nine years and nine months after the first Casiotron. One Hacker News commenter saved paper route money for two or three months to buy a C-80 in fifth grade. Another pointed at the 1989 CGW-50, which showed the planets and Halley's comet, and said it's discontinued and lists in the thousands on resale sites.
If there's an old Casio in your junk drawer, I'd find its model name and look it up on that page before it goes out with the e-waste.
I want the one with the radio.
The Pocket Calculator Show dates the TM-100 to 1987, and Casio describes it as a watch with an FM transmitter and a microphone, so your voice could come out of a radio's speakers. It ran on two batteries, one for the watch and one for the transmitter, and the same site says that feature never showed up in another model. Casio's DBA-80 from that year dialed stored numbers for you by playing touch tones into the receiver of a push-button phone.
People bought these things.

Casio says the 1983 AT-550 let you draw numbers and math symbols on the glass with a fingertip, and the LCD showed the formula and the answer. Jason Kottke posted a demo of the 1984 AT-552 years ago, and the video he shared says the touch tech didn't take off back then because it was quite unreliable. Even the 1980 C-80 calculator watch had a trick in it, since Casio says its circuitry could work out which key you meant when you pressed two at once.

@johannab First black female governor in the US for my State. Gov. Keisha Lance Bottoms sounds about perfect right now.
@Bfordham Congratulations. I am enough of a political nerd and worried Canadian neighbour that I have been crushed twice that GA came so close with Stacey Abrams and just couldn't kick the can across the line. Black women taking leadership in southern states may be the closest to real salvation that can be found.
Casio Put Its 1980s Watch Highlights on One Page...
Casio built a page for the 50th anniversary of its watches that walks through the 1980s one model at a time, and a good part of it reads like a smartwatch spec sheet that showed up decades early. It hit Hacker News this week, and it's a better scroll than anything in my feed.
The touchscreen models are the ones that got me.

Again. Not trying to be a Negative Nelly, but the reality is if you didn’t hate Black people and did the right thing in the first place, we wouldn’t be here. This is the reality. Black people have to live in the reality that the hegemonic created.
Also, the amount of racism I see on fedi everyday is a reminder that people who engage whiteness still have not really learned the lesson. At all.
Good luck with all this though, I got a uterus to yeet and an escape plan to Paris to build

Why the fuck were the fridges at blood banks connected the internet?
What bumbling fool would do such a thing?
@aesthr How else will they mine bitcoins?
VMware releases vSphere Express for virtualization on up to 128 cores
“We started listening to a lot of our lower-end customers," VMware exec says.

@arstechnica I mean, they can go fuck themselves, right?
joy over hatred , life over bullshit / y'all these are some great quilts 🤍
@paul_ipv6 @ai6yr any moment now "AI" agents will take off, any moment. They will order an Uber to take their humans to the Metaverse to look at some awesome NFTs of apes.
You people literally sat around and let your own hatred teamed up with clear propaganda drive you to sit at home and not vote for a Black woman. This is not some victory. This is a clean up job by White liberals who are learning their lesson: Hating Black women will not save you, will not make you rich, will not make fascists like you more.
You lack the moral stamina and true virtue to make any change. And when it comes time to remove that man from office and he won’t, you will fall in line.

@jfred @ebeem Okay pls tell me more about your progress using this, I think I'm gonna probably switch (see also https://social.coop/@cwebber/117560453730685990 )
@cwebber @ebeem I saw your other thread and meant to ping you about this but you beat me to it haha
I'm currently daily driving it on my personal laptop, but I'm the sort of early adopter who has a high tolerance for pain. There are still some rough edges and missing pieces (understandably so, it's a very recent project!) so I'd hesitate to suggest switching to it entirely quite yet
Buuuuuut if you like Guile hacking (and I know you do) it's a very nice playground
Elon Musk’s empire was built on billions in government subsidies and contracts.
He then used nearly half a billion of his wealth to elect Republicans in the midterms.
It is time to cut off the taxpayer cashflow to his companies.
We don't need federal dollars making billionaires wealthier or giving them more power.
Whether or not billionaires should exist, taxpayers shouldn't be forced to subsidize the wealth and political power of the 1%.
@augieray ...or else make it a trade for public ownership (voting stock only). Every one of us should be getting dividends from companies that were basically made by our tax-dollars.
