I found this very handy rundown of 17 known heat pump water heaters: https://cleantechnica.com/2026/10/08/17-manufacturers-of-heat-pump-water-heaters-are-now-on-the-market-with-more-coming-soon/
One split option with CO2 refrigerant is the SANCO2:
https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/article/sanco2-heat-pump-water-heater
https://eco2waterheater.com/product-info/
But it looks like older tech, more expensive, and more prone to freezing than the Voltex X, based on what little info I'm able to find. So not sure if it's worth considering.
> Harvest is a whole-home heating, cooling, and hot water heat pump system
> Harvest integrates an ultra-high efficiency electric SanCO2 heat pump with thermal energy storage to make a smart thermal battery system.

A one stop shop for hot water, radiant heat (with my existing radiators?), and perhaps cooling (do they only do HVAC, not mini splits?) sounds appealing. May make the SanCO2 more attractive.
We've hired 2 quality assurance engineers who are now working on testing pull requests and releases for our apps to far more catch issues prior to our Alpha channel releases. They'll also be helping with OS testing. It should help improve the quality of GrapheneOS even further.
We recently hired 4 experienced Android app developers to overhaul or replace each app included in GrapheneOS. The most recent hire starts at the end of this month. We shipped the Messaging app overhaul which is already far more usable, robust and secure but will get much better.
libertarian guys with bad vibes will literally be like “I know how to cure you of your socialism” and it’s literally just listening to 2112
Regardless of the technology, it's unconstitutional for the government to get a warrant to track every phone in a given geographical area.
I have to move to a new server by the end of this month. Any recs? Aiming for a friendly, inclusive community. Maybe some tech bloggers know where to find those.
@Firewire https://fedi.garden/ is a great resource, and I have this you can try also: https://jaz.co.uk/projects/startheresocial/
Same thing but year later and with comm(1) added (based on head -c $size /dev/urandom >/dev/shm/in1 && cp /dev/shm/in1 /dev/shm/in2 so nice tricks like looking at the inode doesn't works)
versions: busybox-1.36.1(-r4) coreutils-9.12 utils-std-0.6.0-3-g4253bab
Err, meant to bench cmp(1) instead of comm(1), also leads to rather funny results:

Anyone know about Harmony (ActivityPub chat like Discord)?
Federated social app: Discord-style servers and chat with ActivityPub.
https://github.com/y4my4my4m/harmony
I don’t remember hearing of it till now, yet it claims a lot of desired features. Github page shows only one contributor, one fork, 44 stars; lot of commits in the last week, oldest 3 years ago; GNU Affero General Public Licence v3.0.

I'm not mad that Connie lost. I'm mad that our only two options were centrist Democrats. While the rest of the country is making progress, it feels like local politics, particularly the SF Democratic Party, are deeply influenced by corporate interests and billionaires.
@docpop Connie isn't exactly a centrist. She campaigned for Medicare for all. And I think she's the only person on the Board of Supervisors who tried to limit developers' lust to cover the city with high rises. She's a huge supporter of historic preservation. But I agree-- what used to be a city where positive change was fought for passionately has become something else.
@iam@foolisholivia.gay
Actually yes, I have to agree on this one.
It just struck me that political zombie songs are more in line with the original zombie than any of the zombie movies (political or "just entertainment") are.
it still amuses me that, despite being called "Rage Racer", it's the game with some of the chillest vibes in the Ridge Racer series lol
What is your dream job(s)?
It can be a real job that currently exists or one that doesn't yet exist but you wish it existed. You can want more than one dream job.
@PhoenixSerenity mechanic and dealer of used cars, but not supercars or big SUVs/trucks (these have never interested me) - small hatchbacks that normal folk here drive (especially frontline health/social care workers), particularly those with automatic transmissions as they are in demand, but few mechanics in UK know how to maintain them.
Nothing after 2020 when the components got locked down, maybe the odd hot hatch, but also first generation EVs like Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe as I've got experience with electrical engineering and how not to get shocked (I'd be tempted to mod a 2010s era Leaf with uprated motors and battery, bodykit, JDM type stickers and call it a "rice cooker", being Asian myself I could get away with that (folk might even think I am younger than I am) 😁
We all know what Israel is doing to the Palestinian people both in Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
But our governments are happier to look the other way and suppress anyone who dares to criticise Isreal!
In my view I think they are cowards and immoral, turning a blind eye to what is happening!
> suppress anyone who dares to criticize Isreal!
Are you serious? How much "Israel criticism" do I need to read every single day? Not just legitimate criticism of Israeli actions, which I must add, do not align with the way other countries who perform atrocities far beyond Israel perform, for far lesser reasons- but also the daily dose of blood libel, secret government control conspiracies, dismissal of Jewish indigenous rights, and calls for genocide against Jews.
I see it daily not just on social media, but in national news from both commercial and governmental news sources.
Who exactly is being "suppressed" here?
Neither IBM nor Red Hat donated to the White House ballroom, as far as I can see, by the way ;)
Some quotes hit harder today.
We have a long way to go, but I believe the #solarpunk, #postscarcity, #optimistic #futurist reality of #StarTrek is possible.
I believe we have the power to make it happen, together.
Rest in peace, captain.
