I used to have this irk with my students, I’d encourage them to try and talk or write on a subject using normal words that anyone can understand straight away – using complicated flowery language might impress those at their level, possibly even impress them enough to allow a quick getaway by which time they’ll realise you don’t know what you’re talking about and have actually said nothing, but when talking to someone much higher up in experience, they’ll speak simply too, and they’ll view over decorative big-word speech with suspicion.

We know by now quite well that we are part of the greatest story ever discovered: the evolution of life. We are the Universe. Quite literally.
It makes you wonder how come the vast majority of people on this planet reject this fact and opt in for “religion”…especially when pretty much all humans are part of a years-long educational system…. What would an alien think of us when you tell them that we “educate” our tiny humans for some 12 years, about science, biology, geology, chemistry, math, reality basically, and yet the majority of humans think that a creature created them and the Universe, and that they are so special…and they remember nothing from those classes anyway.
Failure.
If school was a student, with its primary goal of educating a group of people, then this student would be a total failure.

@electrocutie this is the same level of nitpicky as how my mom can't stand when people use "utilize" when they mean "use," because "utilize" has a connotation of "use for a purpose for which it wasn't intended."
