I searched for "openbsd steam" on Google. The "AI" overview mentioned the recent porting effort. You'd expect its source for that to be a respectable tech news site.

But nope. A random Instagram video.

How on earth am I supposed to keep @osnews alive in the future when sloppy search only opts for fucking shit like fucking Instagram as a source for technology news?

But the moon was GORGEOUS (especially through binoculars), with Jupiter and Mars hanging out right next door. The goats are healthy, I have lots of chickens who will start laying eggs very soon, I have lots of stored veggies for the winter, my family is doing well, and I generally love my job. There's lots to be grateful for.

That's focusing on the stars through the fog. I need to do that more.

I got incredibly bad medical news about a friend yesterday and I'm still reeling from it.

When I went out to do barn chores this morning, it was foggy but I could still see the stars directly overhead this morning if I looked up and focused. That's kind of what my brain feels like, waiting for more bad news on so many scales...

Mr. W, my daughter + I have just returned, and our polling place was a lovefest. A steady stream of voters, full of smiles. It could not have been better, unless I'd been allowed to hand-write "Take that, R's!" on my ballot.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.

A day of distractions that I'll need to manage. I've set up blinders on much of it, made plans that allow me to ignore more. Whether any of it works, only time will tell.

But I have wood and water to deal with, as always. Grounding tasks that start the day and continue to put me back in "now" when I wander too far astray from the path.

It all starts with the breath and continues, one after the next.

Anyway, PSA to no one in particular: sewing is an extremely, extremely useful skill to have, of PHENOMENAL usefulness, and it's a shame it's not respected as such (at least, not in the US -- and based on the extremely low value placed in sewing worldwide, probably a global thing). So glad the many folks here have pointed me in the right direction on this. And it's also a shame it's been pretty gender-role limited. (at least for me, a straight male...) I highly recommend everyone and anyone at least learn the basics (repair and some modifications), but if you're into math/puzzles/3d modeling/etc. it is a natural fit to go well beyond that.
