Oof, I laughed a little too hard
I wonder if there's anything he could do to improve their lives...
Sam Altman says he's gonna need your keyboard and mouse too.
@geekysteven
Then how can I use the processing time he’s renting to me?
@hypolite That makes sense, unfortunately.
But one can dream...
My Treasure Coast, Fl county is underwater already, and the rain isn’t expected stop until midnight tomorrow. By that time, my bedroom will be a seaport. How are these storms going to affect turnout? We have the worst luck in this country.
@shoq I'm curious - why do you still live in FL?
The Cross-quarter Day between Autumn Equinox/ Winter Solstice is this week (November 6/7). In the ancient Latvian calendar this marks the end of Time of Spirits +beginning of Time of Ice. So we have taken time to remember lost loved ones and now we continue preparation for colder shorter days ahead. This week is set to be warmer again, but last week was looking quite icey! lordy I was an egg in 2014
I suspect I will always think it was a mistake to allow author styling of `<select>` elements and sub-elements, and yes, most other form inputs as well.
I acknowledge the reasons for supporting it are valid and real, and also that I’m likely just being an old sourpuss. I nevertheless continue to believe user interaction elements should be consistent with the host operating system, so that users subconsciously know what a thing is when they see or otherwise interact with it.
Ah well.
@Meyerweb I think the logic is that after decades of people rolling their own, the native controls look just as foreign as any other. Allowing for more customization of the native controls improves the user experience in almost every other regard.

comment violates rule: Stay on-topic to the Goodreads app/website - Book recommendations, discussion about Goodreads alternatives or proposed improvements to Goodreads, surveys/school projects, and general discussion of reading as a hobby are all considered off-topic.
I don’t think the mods there are going to let you.
Hadn't seem. RIP.
Well, made a post elsewhere. Don't think anyone follows me there, but hopefully serves at least as a bump.

Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for alternatives on Reddit; maybe worth pointing to BookWyrm and NeoDB?
Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for... #fediverse #goodreads #bookwyrm #neodb #rssfeeds
Both fediverse softwares that support user reviews for books, both have RSS support natively (no Piefed/Misskey bridge needed), and some comments also seem discontent with Amazon's mismanagement overall.
hey quick question why does "roguelike" mean all three of these:

@aSweetGentleman Not necessarily, it’s easier to steal $1 from 1,000 people than to steal $1,000 from 1 person.
And for fridges, bah, it’s unsecured applications nobody is expected to use besides their owners, and for good reasons. But the AI deresponsabilization is making this kind of large scale hijinks both easier to pull off and easier to wash your own hands from.

Holy shit I have to see if Guix will work on #NetBSD or Redox, and also I have to pray that musl-libc works on either
@sackofbones Why not netbsd's libc ?
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
