I'm not gonna bore you with more share price graphs but know that the companies at the center of the AI bubble - Oracle, CoreWeave, Nebius - are still sinking like stones. And this will have very real world consequences as significant amounts of those shares have been used to guarantee the debts they've accumulated. It's incredible seeing the tech sector - historically flush with cash and free of debts - be about to experience its very own version of the subprime mortgages crisis.
@alan I also know that it is a tv show and cast stability is important. But I can't help myself with the logistics and org design view.
Interestingly, modern militaries use that promotion and dispersion if experience to make the whole better than the parts. You take folks who worked for great captains and you sent them to the places that need good leadership to get better.
Also people like some amount of growth and change in their lives to be happy.
@alan you never see Riker in his quarters complaining about processing all of the same personnel efficiency reports for 9 years.

Some interview for Afterlife, Jason Reitman: I thought it would say an interesting thing if a teenager could be a Ghostbuster, anyone could.
Extreme Ghostbusters in 1990s: Here’s four teen Ghostbusters, one is hispanic and another is differently abled! Anyone can be a Ghostbuster.
@gugeli Grias di! 👋
I’ll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give him up.

Khan’s line is better. (Three things are required. Four is wrong. See The Elements of Eloquence, and “blood toil tears and sweat”/“blood sweat and tears” for why.)
Also obviously Ricardo Montalban’s delivery is one of the finest acts in cinema history and the only reason that Wrath of Khan, the only good original series thing, didn’t sweep the Oscars is because the Academy are cowards. It’s annoying that TNG, which is better in almost all ways, didn’t have a better film. First Contact is close, because the line must be drawn here. But the Borg Queen is a retcon, and she’s not the late, great, Ricardo Montalban’s Khan.
We made a comic about waffle fries.
@lowqualityfacts How to tell your cook may be autistic (those waffle fries sound delicious)
One good thing about #MangroveReviews is that they support #ActivityPub. If you have a favourite place, or if you run one, you can follow its reviews on the #Fediverse. I just added it to Openreviews.cz.
Once we have Fediverse celebrities such as @paveljanicek writing reviews, I'll add an option to follow the authors of the reviews. It's possible, too. 🙂
@carnage4life I haven’t watched the video yet, so apologies if this is answered, but with all these AI rewrites is there any reason given to answer why the codebases need to be rewritten? I understand that there are some that do, but Chesterton’s Fence applies in these cases.
@chadgeidel Technical debt and hindsight following years of production usage are often good reasons to rewrite a system.
However this has been historically quite costly so it’s rarely done. Now it is relatively cheap and we will see this increasingly becoming an option over time.

If Starfleet gives officers more agency than the contemporary military, then it's just another difference the show makes about society moving toward a utopic path a few hundred years in the future.
I also agree with the comment that the Enterprise is special. Starfleet needs it to function at its peak rather than regularly dispersing its crew to staff the rest of their ships, which seem to generally carry out more mundane missions. Those posted to the Enterprise would know that.

I use 256GB to color in paint, screw you Altman
@stux is this some kind of joke? I hope it is...
because if it's a challenge, I can totally pull that off.
I just need to compile rollercoaster tycoon as a standalone UEFI application, might take me a while to figure out how to do it.
Anyway, nice sunset this evening!

@heidilifeldman It's remarkable how unsuccessful these election interference attempts have been in the courts, even those staffed by judges predisposed toward the administration.
The intent seems to be not to actually win (which they have to know they won't) but to "flood the zone", and also to have something to complain about after they lose.
I think you're right. They are bad faith stunt lawsuits aimed at feeding the "rigged election" fakery.
Anyway, nice sunset this evening!
The account system is like mullvad had where it's just an account number.
Zero personal information exchanged!
No email, no personal info, no passwords. Simple!
You can buy like I just did on https://proxystore.de/en by SEPA transfer if that's tour thing too. Zero transaction costs.
Gotta support the things that matter to us.
It's the closest thing to Kagi which went kinda weird and not going as I'd expect.
It has AI warning and tagging of search results too.
I'm sorry for thinking many months ago that it was just some side hustle or hobby thing without proper focus.
It is. A real company with focus and people actively working on it. There's a "changelog" and roadmap too at the end of page - https://uruky.com/whats-new
Let's see how it goes for now.
Tried a few searches and it's really clean and super fast.
Found in top results the things I searched.
I'll keep trying on the following days.
If I cared what France wants or had any intention of paying it, France's dumbass "internet tax" would cost me 25 EUR/month minimum just to run my Mastodon instance.
If every country did the same thing, last month it would've cost me 856 EUR, again ONLY for Mastodon.
Unrelated to Mastodon, if I look at my Unifi router dashboard, I used 1.2 terabytes TODAY, just at my own house. If I lived in #France they'd want to charge companies 66 EUR for that bandwidth!
I would say I can't even imagine a stupider tech law, but unfortunately as of late there are a lot of stupid ones to go around. This one definitely ranks up there though!
@jonah Who are the people dreaming up these ways to tax us more? What sort of mentality must you have to invent ways for creative extortion?
Those doing this need to feel total shame and being unloved by society.
If you give your time to systems creating poverty so others have it big, then you ought not feel anything but total rejection by the majority made poor by you. Go live outside society!!!!
