WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s administration appealed to the Supreme Court on Monday in its push to sideline thousands of disputed California mail ballots the day before the pivotal midterm elections.
Another big test for the Roberts court. Hope it doesn't capitulate again.
This morning I've started reading "Capoiera, The History of an Afro-Brazilian martial art" by Matthias Röhrig Assunção.
After a bit more than fourty pages, I can say I really like this book already. I wanted to learn more about its roots and Brazilian history, so I'm glad I've picked this book because it goes deeply into it.
Sharing in case anyone'd be interested too, and to say what I'm up to!
After a really long time without reading a book due to cognitive issues and lack of focus, I didn't expect to read that much at once. Sudokus probably help a lot.
It really made my day.
I believe I've never talked about what I read (only mentioned manga a while ago, but don't read many anymore) so I figured I'd share what I read from now on
@adr $385?!

> The narrator drops a precise timestamp, like he’s recounting the exact moment of a terrorist bombing inside Kyle’s soul.
This "book club" author scammer accidentally let a piece of their code into the come-on email. Anyone recognize which LLM they're using to generate these?
@aram huh, what is the angle I wonder?
CoSocial, the instance I’m posting on, is now three years old; a happy, smooth-running member-owned co-operative. Here’s a quick report on our AGM and the lessons we’ve learned over the years: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/2026/10/29/CoSocial-AGM
@ai6yr Welp. Now I've gotten EAS alerts.
@femme_mal Stay dry!
@fluffy there should be a kind of tape that makes lights slower instead of dimmer
@scanlime I bet something could be done with glow-in-the-dark pigment being used as essentially a low-pass filter on photonic emission
apparently a raspberry pi is $385 USD now. that is extremely stupid.
@adr@mastodon.social It's this kind of clownery that makes me think I might need to take up silk screening circuit board components as a part-time job and reselling them.
Is this a profile from a different server?
If no one on your server has followed the profile's account before, its profile may look blank. More info at https://fedi.tips/why-does-someones-account-page-look-completely-blank-is-it-really-blank/
@TheBreadmonkey My ice cream will never be digitised!
Got my first-ever email from a person I actually know that smelled strongly of AI. I'm fortunate it took this long, I guess. But still. Ew
@jalefkowit I was gobsmacked last week when I gently floated some mild criticism to a coworker about their clearly LLM-generated work, and they replied, "Thanks for calling that out."
Am I out of touch...?

I'm not endorsing this article or viewpoint, but Ian's framing seems right.
Assuming the presumed death of DSPs starts now, I don't see any reason that third parties won't continue to insert themselves into the music industry and become parasites unless musicians say "absolutely not."
Which is not historically what happens.
