Anthropic considers its addressable market every white collar job in the world. It’s going to be an interesting world if companies keep laying people off to replace them with Claude subscriptions.
It’s not just a question of who buys your product if no one has a job but also who pays taxes?
@carnage4life If it gets to the point where jobs are being wiped out wide-spectrum without any real prospect of replacement or socialisation of benefits, then there will be the prospect of riots, nationalisation and forced shutdowns. It would be a real irony if what unites right and left in world politics is shared hatred of AI’s impact on employment.

up up to the lab...
Hi Fediverse Fam! I'm sitting here hoping that the art lovers here can help me out.
I'm a digital artist/photographer, and with the economy as it is, sales have been unusually slow this year. Bad timing as I also had three surgeries this year, which meant a lot of down time and unexpected expenses that wiped me out.
Normally, things pick up by now, but this year they just haven't. I'm getting pretty frantic and hoping this post might connect me with people looking for art for their spaces.
As you can probably tell from the small sample of my art I've shared, I rarely stick to one subject for very long. I like some variety, and I tend to follow whatever has caught my interest at the moment.
If anything you've seen catches your eye, or you'd like to see more, my Etsy is here: https://marktisdaleart.etsy.com
And if buying art isn't in the cards right now, helping more people discover my work would mean a lot.

WAIT, can we add each bit to the bit of the same position in the key (we destroy the carries, like Mike Flanagan), repeating the key as maby times as needed (appending it to itself) so that we get a reversible encryption algorithm with arbitrary stream bitlength?
@mooooooo @hipsterelectron This would be a plain XOR and have issues including exact repeat of bit patterns if cleartext data recurred at the same offset relative to key length.
i don't want my software to ship fast. i want it to ship luxuriously, languorously, utterly unhurried. i'm talking glacial, geological timescales here. i want software that has settled into the hammock for a long weekend
@Dad_Wood Nein, nein... er hat das Rektum offen.
Sperrangelweit.
@d_rift well i'm putting compression out of the picture for now and sticking to invertible transforms of unstructured serial bit strings. a bit is a block that can't be transposed, only substituted (flipped). the problem with blocks is that they do not share information outside the fixed block—stream ciphers only share information left to right and not e.g. right to left. the answer i have for this is using a random bit stream to randomly split up the message into random sized blocks and invert some of them and then to reorder the random-sized blocks. invertibility is trivial but constructing it may require more information than merely reading the random bits of the key in reverse—not sure yet

Full rooms, great talks, and the hallway track to meet peers and experts: the Matrix Conference delivered again.
Couldn’t make it, or couldn’t be in two rooms at once? The Public Sector track is now online. Catch up on how public institutions are taking control of their own communications, and what that looks like in practice.
Watch the talks:

100%. The NZGOAL-SE consultation worked because those being consulted on GH were geeks familiar with its use. It was clear to me that a GH/GL style interface wouldn't cut it for general public use. This is where I got bogged down, investigating other collaborative authoring software for interface ideas;

You are excited about the idea. SX-wise you are at the start of the Ideation phase.
You have git, a technology. You should validate whether it is your ideal *enabling technology*. Does it solve the problem and fulfill stakeholder needs?
You are modeling a new solution in the domain of "Policy making", where git is just an impl. detail.
SX is needs-driven development. You defined 3 audiences that might benefit from your solution. Next step is to define stakeholder (groups), and find people who work in these roles to gather feedback from.
What are they using currently? What problems do they face? What is their domain / work process? How does gitocracy improve it? Do they see merit in the proposed solution?
The latter can be the hardest, as you propose/advocate a new way of working.
