is it really that much? I search a lot about my current desktop, and some about my proxmox server. I also like to search about ongoing tech trends like currently ive done a lot of research on the current ps5 jailbreak.
I just went and checked my current month usage at the moment and You are right though with the average. For this month so far I’m sitting at 2209 searches, my daily range is 28-308. A good chunk of them falls into gaming questions and linux questions.
so the feeling is like, if you've ever been in a place that's way too fancy for you to be in, my first instinct is to start looking around for the places i'm not supposed to go, where are the weird places that are only private by social convention. usually any of the important doors are locked or there is someone standing in front of them. but sometimes you step over a velvet rope and try a door and find it unlocked, so you go through and go for as long as you can until someone stops you, and then you pretend you were lost and looking for the bathroom and give up.
muse is sort of like that, except the doors say they are locked but if you push on them you find out there isn't even a latch in the doorknob. or the doors are locked but if you jiggle them enough times they open. or there is just a big pile of gold bars lying on the ground in the middle of the hallway with no doors. and sometimes when someone catches you snooping around where you're not supposed to be, instead of telling you to get out of there they just start helping you. and all around on all the walls someone has sticky taped up notes that are like "do NOT tell anyone that all the GOLD is stored, unlocked, behind this door. if anyone figured out they could get ALL THE GOLD."
black adder? why would i care about your colour when it comes to maths?

Who even needs food or supplies on a Saturday?!
@Cassandra_Complex hey they are just doing you a favor, forcing you to shop on the weekdays so there's less crowds. Isn't that nice of them? 🙄

Same tbf. 5$ for 300 searches is so limited. I just checked my DDG history for the month and I average between 2500 and 3500 searches a month. I don’t even use it professionally, its just general consumer use.
Honestly I likely would pay for it if it was 5$ for 3k-4k searches. I would just swap to another engine for the remainder but, 1$/1k searches up to 10$ which moves to unlimited would be more than fine, even if they decided to remove the bloat like lens, and translation from the package. but they are likely hoping more people are not like me and will just pay the 10$ a month to have unlimited rather than just not use the service at all.
Especially considering how many other services that I get way more value of are not much more than the unlimited plan… I can have internet browsing for 10$ which i already have for free, or I can pay a couple $'s more and get a streaming service or a news site which contains content that I don’t already have access to.
I like the mentality but, it’s just not worth it for me for a non-essential service that adds nothing of value to me outside one less site harvesting my data.
I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my gems' repositories and added a link to a blog post explaining why: https://po-ru.com/2026/10/18/why-im-no-longer-updating-this-repository
Beyond requiring knowledge of DNS, it requires that you have control of a domain name and think of one as their identity - a far less democratic idea than what geeks think. Just look at everyone who could change their bsky.social nick into a sovereign name, have all the resources and help available to do it, yet do not.

It doesn’t have it “now”, it’s had it for a while. Maybe a better word is “inaccurate”? Saying it’s new is a lie.
It does have it now I just checked. It may have also had it then, but I can’t confirm that. From your testimony, it seems like Kagi both has this toggle now, and had this toggle then
and they say searching the web is broken now
Got some unwelcome news first thing today: Someone I've known for many years recently took their own life. Feeling angry and sad and like a shit friend because we lost touch at some point, and I had no idea of their struggles. But I definitely could have been more curious. My response so far since hearing this news has been to reach out to a few people I've not checked in w/ for a while.
@briankrebs be kind to yourself. 🫂
I’m prepared to be disappointed tomorrow night. A small part of me is hoping for a minority govt with the Greens holding the balance of power but a third instance of this seems unlikely. 🫥
