The Britannica entry for the Fediverse is really good
It isn’t that surprising but it is somewhat surprising.

Which is why I commented in affirmation to be more wholesome and encourage more people to post about what new, to them, things they discover.
I want to thank all of you for your insight and words of encouragement. My daughter is awesome. I've shown or told her of most of your comments. I'm impressed that she wasn't the only one of her peers that complained about the assignment.
This has been a long topic of conversation with us tonight. She knows she has full parental support, but she is firm on handling this on her own. She's 18 now. If she changes her mind and wants her mom to step in, I will.
Titanium Court just gave me the option that, if I wanted to, I could skip the final boss battle and watch a very low-rez, two color, FMV song about salmon fucking and dying instead.
HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!

Head to https://desertbus.org right now to find out!
it's only 287kb
I'm deeply disappointed in how GIFs have stopped working as well as they used to, solely because websites no longer trust people to use them properly. Websites assume that every GIF people make should instead be a heavily compressed MP4, so they compress them for the user, and often break when the GIFs are tiny, pixel-art, or non-animated

The 101 level of things is so basic that it can be used accidentally, as Mike Judge has explicitly confirmed was the case.
You’ll notice that the movie does not have any themes or morals any eugenics outside of using a basic and limited concept of it as the premise for the world.

I was about to look it up.
(Just did. It’s from the movie.)

For only 300 searches, that’s 10 searches a day. I do probably 50 to 100 searches per day.
So, it’s really $10 a month.
I might pay $5 a month for unlimited but I’m not sure about that. Because, you know they’ll raise the price if they get successful enough. And, then it’s just enshittification.

Slrpnk.net is down
Looks like our servers are on the fritz again. Usually we aren’t out of commission for too long. Hopefully we are back soon.

Honestly not everyone will agree, but personally I can’t see any flaw in using AI to read through your code and point out security flaws. It’s going to happen regardless of whether you initiate it. It’s not like us sys admins are going “well I’m not going to patch the dirtyfrag vulnerability because it was discovered with AI”. I’d say knowing if AI can find a vulnerability in your code, is just a requirement right now.

Thinking of opensourcing my daily-driver fediverse app. What are your thoughts on running it through an AI security tool before doing so?
For about a year as a hobby I’ve been writing an app that scratches several itches that I’ve had with the fediverse (multiple accounts at once, supporting both microblog- and threaded-style content, synthetic/hybrid feeds, etc.) and for the past month or so have been using it exclusively on the desktop and about 50% of the time on mobile (Voyager is my main mobile client and source of inspiration here). I’d like to open source the whole thing. But the code is mine, therefore buggy and bad. Normally I’d not worry too much about that, but in the age of LLM attacks I don’t want to contribute more security vulnerabilities to the world. Should I use an LLM security tool to analyze my code and point out security issues so I can patch them before releasing the code? If so that would more or less be the only AI contribution. I’m a practical-minded person and use AI tools at work so it doesn’t bother me, but I know lots of people here have strong (and often helpful) opinions on the matter.
MiniDebConf Beijing will start soon (10:00 CST or 02:00 UTC), are you excited about it?? Best part is you can check the livestream (talks in Chinese 😉 at https://live.bilibili.com/7204531 #debian #MiniDebConf #MiniDebConfBeijing2026

It’s five bucks a month and has a lot of functionality.
I've finally gotten around to watching Dracula in Istanbul (1953) on a real TV instead of my phone or or in a little window in my video editor.
I'm watching it through the New Ellijay Television roku app, although you can also just watch it on the NETV website.
https://vod.newellijay.tv/videos/watch/e5d570df-df42-40b9-8f1d-9fef02cb09f1
I probably won't be able to watch much of it, because I have a lot to do tonight.
But wow, it's beautiful.
after consolidating power through laws passed under urgency and expansion of policing, the racist government is now campaigning on promoting financial literacy in schools.
