@stefano Linux? Careful, it could be a trap... 🤔
@kinger I’ll talk about the BSDs and illumos! 😉

My husband and I don’t fight about a lot of things, but one of our biggest contentions is how he calls aluminum foil "tin foil" (I know the Brits would say "it's 'actually aluminium...'") but he just one-upped me by saying "I believe the scientific term is... "fun foil..." 😂🎆
@Alice I always call it tin foil, I always thought that was a British 1970s thing.

You can not personally enjoy a thing and not choose it and yet still be grateful for the tough work someone is doing and recognize it as important to the world in the way the world is configured
Throwback to about 20 years ago when I thought it would be funny to make beer koozies with the baby on board logo on them, but I had to buy them in bulk so I ended up with like 20 of them so I brought them up to my current husband's family barbecue and then my husband's family thought it was a messed up pregnancy announcement.
@Alice The existence of a current husband implies the existence of a voltage husband and a resistance husband.

I wouldn't choose to work in PHP as a language and I have never particularly enjoyed it but I do think we are living in really tough times to be maintaining *any* essential software infrastructure, so thanks to the PHP team for putting in the work RN

I bought a chinese PiKVM copy last time it happened, but ran into issues with the usb otg connection which I procastrinated on to fix, so it currently only shares the screen but not the input. But I also connected it to the main router which is supposed to run the ssh tunnel and reverse-proxy eventually but right now those run on a seperare server and that one went down 🫠
So yeah, I am victim of my own half finished stuff as well as security hardening that now locked myself out pretty much…
Happens to the best of us. I’m just glad it’s a glitch not a crisis, and temporary not permanent :)
For anyone following along with my shoe saga, I listened to the people telling me I should just take my shoes to a cobbler, so I actually did do that today and they told me that it would be about $100 to replace the soles. 😭
@Alice oh that's ridiculous pricing.
Ok, so, macOS running on a regular x86 PC is called hackintosh. But what do we call iOS running on an Android phone, now that that's apparently a thing?
@grishka iHackOS?

my brother in christ have you even watched the fucking movie? it doesn’t even try to pretend it’s not about the “wrong people” having too many kids, it has scenes explicitly dedicated to showing that. whether they intended it that way or not, that’s the movie that got made.
@mapo76 This doesn't show that you're on GmsCompatConfig 178. It also doesn't show that you enabled the proposed workaround for before GmsCompatConfig 178.

It is literally the opening sequence. Well educated people focusing on their careers and having less children, whilst uneducated, unemployed people breed like rats. It’s not even subtle, it has infographics. Surprised you missed it. Love the film, have issues with the premise.

No, because that’s a massively false equivalency.
The plot of Idiocracy explicitly accepts the eugenecist premise that ‘genetically stupid’ people breeding will result in a planet of idiots, whereas the Handmaid’s Tale merely demonstrates the result of misogynist policies being implemented by society.
