@tshirtman @gsuberland there are several such plugins. a couple days ago someone recommended me a specific one in my mentions… someone else immediately responded to say it sucked
@mcc @gsuberland <shocked.gif>
I'll go shop for one that agrees with my still unformed opinions but that will quickly materialize once i see the options.
Or maybe picking the most popular and not looking further would be wiser.

🚨💔 I’m starving in Gaza, and I’m begging for help! 😭
Prices have skyrocketed, crossings are closed, and my family and I are struggling to afford food and medicine. 💔
Hunger is breaking me. I’m exhausted and scared of what tomorrow will bring. 😭
Please, don’t leave me alone in this suffering. Even $5 could help me survive. 🙏💔
@lightspill Oh, there was this one _Wizard of Oz_ series book where a rooster got called into a rooster's crow and was having adventures that way. Was wild even for the loose goofy transformation world of Oz.
@Austin_Dern@blimps.xyz Oh, that sounds like fun. I should read the rest of them. I read a handful when I was young but never went through them all from beginning to end.
A friend of mine had just recently re-read the Road to Oz and was telling me how much she adores the Shaggy Man.

You have failed to solve the trolley problem.

This is also not just about JS. The same kind of pattern applies to many more fashionable platforms.
Just as COBOL got a bad rep by people who didn't fully grasp its qualities, context and value we now see another workhorse language being shat on so people can validate their choices.
@tante BTW: what happened to Perl?
With the crossings closed and food prices skyrocketing, the threat of famine has returned to haunt our lives once again
I’m terrified for my family. I’m afraid of the day when I can no longer afford even a piece of bread for them, when I have to watch them starve while I’m completely helpless 😭
We are exhausted from hunger, fear, & suffering Please, don’t leave us to face famine alone We desperately need your help Even the smallest donation could help my family survive

The Britannica entry for the Fediverse is really good
It isn’t that surprising but it is somewhat surprising.
But the bus driver supports genocide. The whole bus is rotten. We should let the bus go off the cliff and then build a new bus. I’m sure enough of us will survive the crash to build a better bus afterwards. Many people will die but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

Slrpnk.net is down
Looks like our servers are on the fritz again. Usually we aren’t out of commission for too long. Hopefully we are back soon.
@AugierLe42e Ben y avait des suspensions c'est vrai. Ils devraient peut être tester le combo haha.

I learned to program with PHP and literally _nothing_ on the planet comes even close to being that easy to program and deploy.
Which makes "I run JS on Node with 57373 unchecked dependencies to do basic CRUD and PHP is just so bad and dumb" look really juvenile.
@tante it is a fit language and haters should stop living in 2005
but: i think PHP draws many people from other backgrounds than IT, precisely because it is so easy to use. which might cause worse practices regarding ops and dev in average, compared to other ecosystems. node is even worse for sure, tho, but probably for other reasons.
@jacel @WizardOfDocs Understandable :(
@jacel @WizardOfDocs *Makes a note to mail you one of my shinies when I finish annealing them*
(Shiny jewellery may not make anything better, bit I figure it won't make anything worse)
@tante i learned to program on js and also see an immense amount of negativity directed toward it particularly because of its use on the frontend which tends to get very female-coded, please reconsider this rhetoric
@hipsterelectron I added a clarification in another post. I absolutely acknowledge the phenomenon you describe but these days it feels like the backend JS crowd does - being the mainstream go-to these days - sees itself and is seen somewhat differently
Turning boxes of “misc. cables & electronics” into boxes sorted by cable type today, came across this beauty that I had to keep out and photograph for fedi. You’re welcome.
Sorry for the crappy pic but I've not done a food pic in forever and I like to post them to remind me that sometimes when I go into a fugue state and then awaken and have made a bunch of stuff on autopilot that it's quite nice and also worthwhile. My brain often goes to path of least resistance so it's useful to remind myself that a few extra steps can yield happy healthy(ish) food. Also - and I know I say this about everything, buuuuuut - is Mexican food the best in the world?...

Big oof on using LLM code for a fediverse project.
Honestly if they don’t have time to contribute to it without an AI doing coding and reviewing, it seems worth considering helping a more active project like Piefed instead to consolidate resources (at least, IMHO).
