As an experiment, I've created OpenCollective: https://opencollective.com/debsuryorg to see if I can replace my Patreon with that.
Don’t forget gutting USAID and research funding, including children’s cancer research, so they can instead pay for the hired thugs in ICE. Legitimately one of the most shameful things the US has ever done in terms of deaths caused, in the short and long term.
One side started war with iran while other side didn’t
One side destroyed relationship with strongest allies for nothing while other side didn’t.
One side went to war with people on the streets with ICE and lowered recruitment requirements while other side didn’t.
One side gave us Pete Hegseth while otherside didn’t.
One side started tariff war for nothing while other side didn’t.
Both sides same though I guess?
so what has broken the internet today?

(Java is reported, but supposedly it's just their version of the 4 issue)
anything else I'm missing?
and apparently Railray (a cloud provider?) got hacked and are telling all their customers to rotate their secrets. Apparently things like API keys were stolen

you’re lucky if you can even finger a user between systems
I’m sure the gals at the blahaj zone are up for it
Gotta love it when the lies survive long past the time the liars found them useful.
Declassified CIA memo:
"Attention, LFI nous envoie la tempête Austen, le vent d'extrême gauche va tout ravager, je vais déployer l'armée pour l'arrêter."
EU governments have agreed their position on the #DigitalOmnibus on Data, and AI is at the heart of it.
Under the Irish Presidency, the Council has joined a deregulation project built around a dangerous idea: that Europe’s AI ambitions require feeding an ever-growing appetite for data, even if that means weakening rights people already have.

The US has never had a single ally, maybe except Israel. Only vassals.
If you think this is the first administration to abuse and antagonize countries it usually works with, you have not been paying any attention to what has been happening for the last 250 years.
The US is singlehandedly responsible for the EU still not being more closely united, as it always had and used its de facto veto over anything.

If you hold your nose and vote, how do you stop getting more of the same?
Theres no option for that. its a systematic failure.
And the text is already preparing the next deregulation round.
One review can reopen core GDPR duties in the name of ‘risk’ and burdens on smaller organisations. Another can reopen the rules protecting our devices within just 12 months.
This is hardly simplification.
It is an attempt to make the EU allegedly more ‘competitive’ by making our data easier to use and our rights easier to abuse.
Those gaining the most power are unlikely to be the people whose data are being used, or even the companies on whose behalf this is being done.
On ePrivacy, one important correction: access to our phones, browsers and other devices goes back under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, where it belongs.
But the Council still expands consent-free access, lets companies ask again after a refusal, and drops the broader framework for automated, machine-readable privacy signals.

The Britannica entry for the Fediverse is really good
It isn’t that surprising but it is somewhat surprising.
@hiisikoloart PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessor, a recursive acronym) is a programming language that powers a big chunk of the web. If you've ever used WordPress or Wikipedia, you've browsed a site running PHP.
@annika
Thank you for the explanation. (:
These shorter versions of the word never make much sense to me, so it is nice when people open them up!
Research is another problem.
‘Scientific research’ is defined very broadly while getting easier reuse of data and lighter information duties, risking activities far beyond genuine scientific inquiry benefiting from research exemptions.

The Council also makes it easier to process some of our most sensitive data in AI contexts, weakens information duties, makes some access requests easier to reject as ‘abusive,’ and makes it easier to justify decisions taken entirely by machines even when a human could have taken them instead.
