Hey everyone,

@casey and @rania40 had the honour of speaking to one family from Gaza today and we’d like to welcome them to Gaza Verified.

They are:

• Kazem🍒in 🍒Gaza (@kazemabofares)

Please give them a warm welcome to Mastodon and to the fediverse, follow their account, and donate to their fundraiser if you can (and please share this so others can do the same).

Also, remember that you can find all our families who have fundraisers listed at the following page, ordered by those who have received the least in donations over the last week (on a rolling basis):

https://gaza-verified.org/donate/

Thank you for making Mastodon and the fediverse a safe space for our friends in Gaza and for your support.

💕

The PHP engine parses the request that contains uploaded files and hits the bug. This happens long before your application code runs and tries to handle that request. So no, you are not safe.

just wanna give people some positive feedback on what i did:

the android IRC app called 'motd' is really cool.

i also installed a bouncer on my server, znc, and clicked around and configured lots of things, and it was really intuitive and a lot of fun.

i now have to break this habit that IRC is something i can only do on my desktop.

get on IRC!!!

I finished uni with a 3rd. Came bottom of my class. Every graduate job interview got rejected based on my degree. The only job I got came from an interview where they didn't ask. 17 years later and I'm still there surrounded by PhD's and 1st class graduates and no one knows.

...but the WinXP push is sidelined for PHP now.

So it's all a wash.

Comment ça ?

@_elena @RosannaSibora @Gina I think we need to look at the DEIB devroom at FOSDEM as piece of performance art.

The DEIB devroom *is* happening. The rejection by FOSDEM is part of the performance. It makes an unequivocal statement on where we're at with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in 2026.

Think of it like 4'33"

@liw @jzb Aye - me too. The hallway track (well, frozen outdoor track) was always the main event with FOSDEM.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's safe to be in Brussels that weekend, even outside the venue. Every train, hotel, cafe, pub and restaurant will be packed with people from all over the globe, bringing every airborne pathogen with them.

I used to get sick there every year. The "FOSDEM flu" predates Covid by at least a decade.

Every year we risk our best and brightest.

There is a spot behind the 30 story apartment towers just outside my window where the acoustics are incredible. Someone is singing gospel on this cold early morning causing the pigeons to take flight wheel as one above the NYC skyline.

They fly over the pale yellow and pink clouds intermittently visible through the windows (which have been frosted over with condensation from the heater) And that fiery beast in the basement is also singing and banging.

It's going to be a beautiful day.

Cool, it's always a joy to see people I already follow start to connect amongst them!

Having my belly full, away on foot to my brother’s, all along Thames Streete, and my belly being full of small beer, I did all alone, for health’s sake, drink half a pint of Rhenish wine at the Still-yard, mixed with beer.
