@cr1901 @dalias @pinskia The fact that Rust removes from them the cognitive load of having to think about buffer overflows and object lifetimes gives them all the brain space to think about higher categories of problems, such as attack surface and dependency minimization - and they fail at these just like they would fail at memory safety in C.

Yeah but we can’t say we want to encourage people to have/build/share independent smaller websites then beat them up when they are linked. That’s a huge mismatch of morality. Either we want to encourage people off the big platforms and should make it easier for the little guys or we are blowing magic smoke.

Omicron is easy-to-to use platform for bloggers. Ofc, you can selfhost your blog. Bu we make it modern, advanced, easy and on Fediverse. Bloggers are not developers, they deserve better user experience and freedom at the same time!
I guess I still don’t understand why federation is a positive rather than a negative. Bloggers usually want to give out a single URL to their blog. Plus there are more failure points.

@discatte rad. i don't remember what version i had, iirc it was pretty early. i remember bringing that manual with me and reading it everywhere.
@scanlime i was always reading 3d studio max effects books too.
when caligari got microsoft'd 7.6 became freeware, which is kinda cool in the grand scheme of big softwares.

Lack of funds, essentially. For all we hate corporatised Internet services, we really suck at funding alternatives.
