Do not hit the back button until this toot is finished loading or we'll all be blasted into another dimension.
@the_etrain Chief: I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
Max: How?
Chief: [hesitates] We'll hit the back button.
Max: Excuse me, Chief? You said hitting the back button was bad!
Ben: [deep in thought] Hit the back button…
Max: You're gonna endanger us, you're gonna endanger our client - the nice lady, who paid us in advance, before she became a dog...
Chief: Not necessarily. There's definitely a VERY SLIM chance we'll survive.
[pause while they consider this]
Max: [slaps Ben] I love this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it! LET'S DO IT!
@3rz Yeah, I was more thinking about how to estimate the amount of data on these ebayed tapes I'm looking at right now.
But it doesn't really matter in the end, the question is more how I can prove I made it unreadable.

@mcc It looks really good, thanks for sharing!
@hugoarnal Also be aware of https://next.masto-fe.superseriousbusiness.org which is a mysterious page that sets a cookie or something and makes the interface look a little less Mastodon-3-y and a little more Mastodon-4-y
@azonenberg Browsers should unilaterally scope those types of CAs to *.gov.cc or whatever the right scope for the country's government sites is. No need to allow them to sign for arbitrary domains.
Back Cover
The front cover:
The alleged stolen items? Diapers and baby clothes. Items that any family needs to care for a child.
Kohen’s tragic murder is yet another reminder of the value of Black life under the racist, capitalist system.
That retrieving baby clothes and diapers takes precedent over a precious 1-year-old’s life makes clear the absolute corrupt nature of the system.
Kohen Wiley should be alive today. His family deserves justice — not another official ruling excusing his murder. Justice for Kohen Wiley!
One-year old Kohen Wiley is dead — and his family will receive no justice. End the war on Black America!
Earlier this year, Senatobia Police Officer Hunter Foster fired into a vehicle while responding to an alleged shoplifting incident — killing 1-year old Kohen Wiley.
Yesterday, the Mississippi AG ruled the use of force was justified.
Kohen's mother and her friend were immediately targeted by police, despite no evidence of their involvement in the alleged theft. As they drove away, Foster opened fire into the vehicle.

@galaxis If your LTO tape drive is new enough, (early) starting at gen 5, you can do tape partitioning.

If you are considering buying a new Kindle, friendly reminder that we have been stuck on 300ppi resolution since 2014 and the E-Ink market is a monopoly. If your old one still works, it may not be worth to upgrade to a new edition that will be harder to jailbreak. If you need a redesigned version for things like connections etc, you can check the different Kobos. They are easier to hack and repair
@berniethewordsmith Onyx Boox and other brands, too
I managed to RGB mod my childhood SNES Jr last night! It was a little nerve-wracking working with fine soldering, but it turned out really well!
Heh, I half-expected this to not work, but it did work
#pixelart concept of a loading indicator that actually handles all the major parts of a web query
And now we are one in everlasting peace
A feature I'm preparing to include in my visual functional programming language "Alonzo" is to have it fill in the most obvious code for you.
The algorithm I'll use for this will be handwritten, striving to synthesize the simplest code it can that matches the required type signature.
Why do I want this:
1. It helps ensure that every program will compile into something useful.
2. Its my way of bringing over Haskell's typeclasses.
3. To appeal to recovering vibe coders.
@brettezeleliquide (apologies for replying in english)
there's another great story in this category. London Underground was getting some building work done. the plans had a "thought bubble" drawn on them with a bunch of info. the workers took the drawing literally and cut a big hole in a wall in the shape of the bubble. then they did a concrete pour, which flooded through the hole into a signal room and destroyed all the equipment.
@gsuberland I found the concrete pouring incident but nothing on the "thought bubble": theconstructionindex.co.uk/new…
Do you have more detailed sources?
@mcc Nope, how'd that happen?
@jernej__s it had simply never occurred to us that someone would have an avatar using transparency for something other than edges/halo and the line connecting posts in threads was passing directly under your avatar lol
We were like "maybe we should think about masking"
