@newsmast Oh sorry, I meant I’m on iOS 27.2 dev beta. The App Store version of Newsmast isn’t working currently 😅.

I thought you meant, I should be on the TestFlight. I need coffee lol.

@WarnerCrocker

but we rarely had to go to different video stores like we now need to have multiple different services and deal with the endless parade of what they push at us. it's all eventually going to be YouTube.

but a better world would be podcast-esque. creators have their own sites and we get access to it all via any app we choose. #owncast and #peertube promise this future, but there's more work to do. and we need to be able to pay them directly and automatically.

Judge Orders Meta to Name Employees Who Approved Torrenting Anna’s Archive and LibGen https://torrentfreak.com/judge-orders-meta-to-name-employees-who-approved-torrenting-annas-archive-and-libgen/

Meta will have to name the people who greenlit its torrenting of pirated books. A federal magistrate judge has ordered the company to identify everyone who approved sourcing books from LibGen and Anna’s Archive. This goes beyond the employees who ran the downloads and includes whoever decided whether to seed the books to others.

@anon_opin I assume Anon is volunteering to do this work. I hope they have a good ladder.

If you are reporting on a protest

And the only thing you're saying is that they didn't protest correctly

You fucked up

The question that your readers need answered is

"Are the protesters right?"

Engage with the substance of the protesters' message, don't obscure it by focusing on its form

@darwinwoodka @dangillmor

Found that by minimizing the phone text and keyboard it became more usable, but agree that it is a big step backward.

@aesthr @imcdowall Moral rights might be the angle you're looking for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_rights

Feels like it should be possible to argue for the basic theory of a creator's moral rights over their work, without propping up any particular implementation of copyright law.

(As an author in the U.S., I rely upon U.S. copyright law for my livelihood, but at the same time decry the deep flaws in its implementation and the inequity in its selective enforcement.)
