I could not for love or money convince autocorrect that I really did want to write "ilk"
(FFS that took four tries here, too)

Nationalize them all. NOW. Enough billionaires and fascists making their decisions behind closed doors, and then following up with lies and BS excuses. They are destabilizing democracies around the world intentionally so that they can build more data centers. They want us all to die. More for them. Enough is enough.
That sounds good, until you ask: “which nation?”
Right now, there aren’t many that I’d trust with that kind of power. I’m not sure I’d even want Brussels dictating social media policy for the rest of the world.
I think this needs to be bottom up.
@benpate@mastodon.social that would require me creating accounts on those platforms. That sounds fucked to me, for previously stated reasons.
Besides, even were I willing to create a presence for myself on those corporate hellholes, I learned long ago that attempts to persuade others online is a futile waste of my spoons. Shit, couldn't even persuade close family, in person—and you think I'll have luck with strangers I've never met?
Nah, cos, that ain't how the world works.
You do you. I'm staying well away from those places.
I get it. It’s not for everyone. :)

Email your Members of Congress and urge them to investigate Meta's pattern of political suppression and hold tech giants accountable for any attempts to interfere in our elections: https://act.indivisible.org/sign/tell-your-members-congress-reject-tech-billionaire-influence-on-elections?source=mastodon
Despite Meta’s censorship, we saw a 51% jump in early voting in areas with a No Kings event.
Ezra joined All In With Chris Hayes to explain why we need real answers from Mark Zuckerberg.

"The impact of mass mobilizations never begins or ends in a single day. On Saturday, millions marched to the polls. Today, those millions will encourage their friends to vote. Next. week, they’ll check in on neighbors, offering rides to the polls or encouraging them to check their voter registration. Then, if there are irregularities or injustices, they will stand shoulder to shoulder and fight."

I do not, actually, want LLMs to be feasible to run on ordinary hardware. I do not want this fascist technology to be more accessible. I want to abolish it.
ah yes, fascism is when an llm runs on your laptop. keep calling everything you dislike “fascist” and soon you won’t recognize actual fascism.
@evan@cosocial.ca Outlook not so good

Yes, one particular actor makes heavy use of open invitation codes. The invite codes historically bypassed moderation review, so domains that had moderation review turned on did not see these new accounts.
I strongly recommend reviewing invitation code privileges for all roles, especially the default role.
In Mastodon this is at /admin/roles/-99/edit
And uncheck "Invite Users without review"
(this is a relatively new option, spread the word)
