@tommi @cwebber @spritely @guix Guix has an interim policy forbidding LLM contributions: https://guix.gnu.org/manual/devel/en/html_node/Copyright-Matters.html#Coding-Assistants-_0028LLM_0029-Policy
They are working towards a permanent policy using their consensus process. No ETA on that but the majority are in favor of a strong permanent prohibition.

Holy shit. When I spent a few months in Berlin, I would attend meetings of The Dolls. They were like, just a bunch of trans women meeting up to chat and support each other.
It was really helpful for me to meet and grow community when I felt very alone.
I'm shocked to hear this news.

Maybe I am misreading but this looks like this is someone trying to find a way to go after people advising on how to get access to DIY HRT
LLMs produce statistically plausible text given a particular context.
«Agents» run that in a loop, «given everything we’ve said so far and this new text, what is the most plausible next piece of text?»
There is nothing there.
It’s all in people’s heads.

If you want to:
FINANCIALLY SUPPORT
THE
DOLLS
, you can!
The Dolls is a collective in Berlin that does education on (DIY) HRT, essential information for trans people in need of healthcare.
Last Sunday they got raided by the police. Everyone got ID'ed, and detained. HRT, supplies and money (yes cops love theft as long as its the cops doing it) were confiscated.
But, The Dolls have a fundraiser. And they could really use the money, also for potential legal expenses. So if you can spare an euro or two, or more, that'd be really nice and cool.
@tisba I mean not using it in any way that advances it. Sadly, we are all stuck on top of rotting foundations right now, as even GCC and LLVM are accepting vibey patches.
@tisba And by that I mean, don't use it to produce any output by anyone within the org, or within the projects they run, to the extent that it's their domain
@cwebber I assume you mean not using it directly at all? Or are you including all dependencies? I suspect the latter is close to impossible already :-/

@mcc@mastodon.social @cwebber@social.coop I've looked at that recently...
Their policy is that "you can use it, but maintainers reserve the right to just close PRs if they don't wanna deal with the AI"
It's not a hard stance... on features on blender they do have that stance, at least
@gwenthefops @mcc The policy is here https://devtalk.blender.org/t/guidelines-for-ai-enabled-features/45354
Make of it what you will. In general, I find the "using machine learning models for things like denoising is fine" is actually something I agree with. But there wasn't anything, as far as I can tell, that banned LLM based code from making it into Blender itself, and it seems like some Blender devs are starting to pick up usage of that tech.
@cwebber @spritely Starlight Network has a list here: https://noai.starlightnet.work/list.html
Their git repo has some more in the bug reports (that havent been integrated into the list yet.)
@trashheap @spritely Yeah! Though I was asking about organizations in this case :)
@mcc I have a sense that Blender, which has the Blender Institute working on code and the Blender Studio working on art, is split... the code side is adopting more LLM output (though a bit more cautiously than some other orgs) and the art side, I think, is remaining steadfastly against it.
@mcc This is my interpretation from reading the minutes and more of the commit logs. I'm saddened the code side of the org didn't take a strong stance against it :\
